We couldn't get enough of Nevada this summer when we ran the 48 hr. Nevada Trophy in August -- so we're going back in OCT for the 12-hour mini! Should be a total blast, great fun, great company. We're going up Friday the 24th, rally all day Saturday, drive home Sunday. Beautiful country -- if you're lucky like we were this summer, you'll see amazing herds of wild Mustangs! Let me know if you are considering it, and I'll try to answer any questions you have!

I am very interested how would I register. Who is hosting the event. Is this a competition or a day of casual driving. I'm in Salt Lake so it would be an easy drive. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

It is a competition, but the idea is to have fun! Check out www.offroadexperience.com. NVTR info is in the left hand column. Be sure to scroll and find the vehicle preparation guide and give it a read.

Basically the event is a waypoint hunt in the desert, about 200 points will be out there, all with different values. No one could possibly get them all in the 12 hr period. You run with a second truck -- either bring your own partner or have one assigned. In 2 days of driving we only saw two other non-competitor vehicles off road -- this is truly a remote experience!

Hope you can make it....

I am IN! Down East ('97 D90 LE #44) has been fitted desert fashion. It seemed the proper way.

Aarakis awaits.

Hey Guys,
I hate the fact that I live in Reno and I haven't been able to make it out to these events! Maybge I'll be able to meet some of you guys even if I can't particapate. I hope you guys also enjoy seeing the wild mustangs, they are beautiful. I personally hate them though. They have been a big pain in the butt when it comes to deer and antelope hunting. I've seen many horses overrun little watering holes out in the mountains while the deer or antelope stay away. There are just so many of them, they're getting out of hand. It pisses me off to cross over a ridge and see nothing but damn horses everywhere. I don't remember it being this bad when I was a kid.
IMO, Have fun and maybe I'll see some of you guys! Thanks, Matt

Geez, Matt. This event is in your backyard! I'm sure there's got to be Discowebbers that would love to run with you!

Yeah the mustangs are cool when u first see them, but I understand they are crowding out other game. It's a tough situation.

See u on Oct 25th!

Wick, don't forget the inflatable Lara doll, it can get cold in the desert at night. Better bring an extra powertank in case she goes down on you - err, as it were.

Ahhh, you're going to Nevada dude. Just pick up one of the legalized carbon/oxygen plastic enhanced models. No powertank needed, the COPEM will air you up.

IMO, just another fringe bene for more Discomaniacs to come (NPI) run the Nevada Trophy on Oct 25th!

Doug
I would be exstatic if I could meet you guys out there. I was planning on just driving down to the hotel in the evening during the last event, but, like normal, I was busy. High school activities don't allow that much freedom. The 25th is still a ways away, so maybe if I plan right I'll get to go.

Thanks, Matt

All,

Just back from Lovelock, NV and the NVTR2. We entered the two family Defenders this time as a team -- Adam's (Wicks) d90 and my 110, with son Jason (95LWB) as primary navigator, and a good friend, Beamer Hodge, as nav in the 90 with Adam. Redundant GPS'd laptops in both trucks which we sync'd via crossover cable (truck to truck) just before the start so we had matching waypoint files. We finished as First Place team!

The 110 took First Place overall by taking First Place on a 10.5 mile rally stage, run at 11PM Saturday night over some crazy rock-strewn white-knuckle shelf roads. (If you know the area, it was basically the tour from the 399 down into the rock gardens on the west side of the Trinities, south across the rock fields, east up past the Eagle Picher Mine, then up over Trinity Peak and back down to the 399 again.) Adam's 90 was only one minute behind us, to finish 2nd on the stage and 2nd overall!

Lots of vid footage that will be edited together soon, including night running on Bluewing Flat.

Jake, it was good to meet you and teammates! Looking forward to seeing you again at the next NVTR!

Hey Doug,
Those were some nice pictures. I kept an eye out this weekend just for that small chance of maybe seeing you guys in Reno. Next time you and your buds plan on coming back up here, e-mail me so we can meet. I know I have the only XD in Reno, but now I feel like I have the only mofified disco here too. I'm tired of waving to people that have stock rigs, and having them give me looks like I'm some freak.
Atleast I get to go mule deer hunting this weekend. Four wheeling is one of the things that makes hunting so much fun.

Thanks, Matt

Matt, we didn't go thru Reno this time. We went to Fernley and picked up the 80 there on the way up, then took the 95 on the way back down, to the east of Mono Lake and across.

You should enter next time. Hope you can make it!

Doug
