I'd like to try and camp at the top of the mountain behind the dam if the trail is clear. Was a rather large tree the fell across it as of 2 weeks ago. If that doesn't work then some place on Kephart. Will any ideas? | ||

If you are talking about that field, yea that is a great spot. That side of Rt.33 would be ideal because of the ridges blocking the sun/heat. Another option would be in the Switzer Dam area. Of course, that is another 2000 feet up and 10 degrees cooler. | ||

Depends on your right foot. Trails are easy, fun for stockers. It's a nice area in general, just to camp or whatever. Especially up top. I'm bowing out, my truck will not be together by Sat AM. | ||

I think we can accomidate the mud on the Disco. Most of the ice around the salt house area should be melted. Bring pleanty of film or if you have advanced into the digital age bring the camera. You'll get a couple of really good water crossings and mud flying shots. | ||

Kevin, heading north on I81 take the 33 west exit. after three lights you'll see the Sheetz on the right. If the forecast is right and we're expecting an inch of rain, Lost Mirrors may not be the best trail to try as it has two river crossings. That little river can get pretty high. I guess we can play it by ear. At least the rain is supposed to end early. See you tommorrow. | ||

I'll organize the trip from the DC area. Meet at the rest stop on I-66 west before Manassas at 7am. You should be ok with out straps of your own for this trip. I'd get somekind of front tow point other than the factory ones,a 20ft recovery strap would work. Check the resources section of the site for places to get them. As for when people leave that's really up to them. My plan on camping got scrapped last night due to family issues. Looking forward to playing in the woods. | ||

What trails other that 2nd MTN did you guys run? I ran into the Nova Jeeper guys at Dry Run and they said they say you eairler in the day, but I never did run into you. I ended up running Salt, Shed, Lost Mirrors, Dictum Ridge, and part of Dry Run. I had fun...  | ||
