Organizing a trip to Rausch Creek Pa in June. Looking at either the weekend of the 12 or the 26th. Trying to get a feel for which weekend is better for people.

Tyler,

How badly will a stock DII with a newbie driver get mangled there?

Joe, if you run the easier trails then you should be ok but, you are likely to beat up your front air dam. Things may be a little worse if you have the stock goodyear tires still on your truck. You will want to stick to the easier trails though. Even some of them have spots that aren't that easy for a stock rig.

Where in PA is this? I may be in jersey at the end of june.
Joe, if you plan on doing any mods, bumpers lift etc. it will be a good judge of what you relly need. Example, on my first couple off road trips i cracked my airdam, lost a fog light and bent my rear bumper. I also got stuck a lot with the stock tires. I wasnt being careful though, i thought rovers were indestrutable at the time. At least i learned what i needed to put on my truck to make it more capable for my style or off-roading.

Rick, it's 40 miles down I-81 from Paragon, which is about 10 miles down I-81 from I-80. On the map it is where Pa Rt 209 crosses I-81.

oh, yeah, there,

Im assuming its the same I-80 that goes to the GW, if thats the case, ill try to get out there for the trip. Ill be coming from the jersey shore. Mapquest estimates about 3 hours, so thats not too bad.

Where on the Jersey Shore? there are alot better options to get there than I-80 from the shore. If you are east or southeast of philly then the Pa turnpike (I-76) west to exit 266 and north on rt 72 to I-81 is much faster than I-80. It is the way most of the Philly people go. Even taking I-287 to I-78 west to exit 13 (Bethal) and up rt501 to I-81 is better than I-80. Tell me where you are coming from and I'll give you the best options.

I'll be comig from the end of 195. I was thinking of 80 as a reference point. 287-78 sounds good. I'll worry about the actual logistics of it about an hour before im ready to go. If i get my gps workin by then, ill just plug in the address. I'm somewhat familiar with 78 in PA. I used to live off 78 in NJ. I've driven every inch of it. Road trip to rollin rock towh fair senior year, and all those college visits to PA.
