Did you have these in the front our the rear. Are these for a Disco 1 specifically. Sorry, but I don't know much about shocks. I do know that I need some for the front of my Disco though.

well, I went to EE and looked at their shocks. It seems that it would be difficult to mount these even on the rear. Unless it has been done before, i don't think that I can use these on the front. I have already purchased rear shocks, so I don't think these will help much.

Ok...Here is my problem. According to EE, these springs will cause your rear springs(OME-HD) to unseat. Thats because they are super tall. This would involve buying shock mounts that would mount higher onto the chassis. Unless?....I have 1 inch spacers that I will be putting in with my springs. Do you think that this will allow enough height to keep the springs seated.

kevin,
these are about an 10.5" travel shock.
with the stock upper mount and a rovertym lower you will unseat your springs

don't you want to upgrade those cheapo LR retainers anyway?

cheapest route for long travel in the rear is these shocks, a set of used RTE lower mounts and make yourself some spring retainers out of 1/4" flat stock.

i've got a used set of RTE shock mounts i'll sell with the shocks as a package for $80, buyer pays shipping.

Do you have a D2 or D1(just wondering)? So your saying, even if I get the RTE mounts, I will still have to buy or make some spring retainers? Are you saying this to be safe off-road as far as flexing goes, or is this definitely not going to work with just that set-up? I would figure with a guaranteed three inches(springs and spacers) that this would work, nothing is easy anymore...lol. Kevin

with a guaranteed 3" lift and RTE mounts you will unseat the springs at full droop.

this is only a problem at full flex, so if you never plan to flex it, it shouldn't be a problem. but seriously....

retainers are cheap and easy to make or i can see if i can scrape up a used set from one of my buddies. but at a 3" lift you most definately will need longer shocks (been there)

Thanks Marc, that would be great, if you could find retainers for me. Are they really really easy to make? I would take everything off your hands if you could get all of that. If anybody spots some retainers, let me know please. Kevin
