So we went into the local mall today to exchange some game my son bought that for some reason didn't work. Anyway on the way out Sue wanted to stop in EMS (that's Eastern Mountain Sports for all you red neck mo fo's - just kidding) - taking a good gander at all the stuff as we normally do we found a four season bag for under $100 - un bloomin beleivable.

The cheapest (for anyone that doesn't know me I am a cheap sod) I have ever seen a four season bag is a buck sevety nine from Cabelas.

Anyway needless to say I bought one - just wanted to pass along the joy.

regards

Jeff

Actually.. I can do one better. @ Eagle Military Outfitters in Winchester, VA, I bought a surplus british 4-season bag for $60. It was priced @ $65, and I got a little Civil Air Patrol discount since I bought it to go to search and rescue school. Warmest bag I've ever owned.

It was 2:30 am, like 40 degress and I was soaked to the bone from rain and going through wet 7foot tall weeds. Soaking wet and shivering I passed out on the ground, using my ruck as a pillow. stupid!! I woke up a half hour later freezing and shaking. I stripped down and got in the bag.... 2 min later, toasty warm :-)

Dave, according to what i remember from survival school - best way to get warm is go get person of opposite gender to lay next to you. Dont get any ideas :-) Body chemistry works in funky way, so you will have temperature quickly raising :-)

And of course getting off upper layer of clothes is good idea always. And never try to sleep in freakin' chainmail :-)

Definitely, sergei -- they kinda frown upon that in a military environment, especially if you're in the chain of command, as I was.

A person of the opposite gendrdefinitely helps, but a good sleeping bag doesn't hurt, either :-)

Its rated at -30 - synthetic just what the doctor ordered for damp areas. Was digging around at work trying to find the tag to see what the fill is but lost the tag.

Hey Sergei - the person of the opposite gender - does it work better using the Elizabeth Hurley model or Angelina Jolie model. Not sure if I can convince my wife that that I'm bringing some leggy brunette along to keep my feet warm :-)

Jeff, are you telling me that your wife is not of opposite gender? :-)

Dave - its not about frowning, man. Its about being able to do anything in morning.

Three of us once had to get it out from bod who decided to be cool and prepared throughout night. In morning his muscles were so numb and frozen that he was barely moving his arms :-)

Jeff - either model will do.You just have to be more convincing, thats all :-)
