How about a "for sale by vendor" or "group buy" sub-section? The subaru forum I used to visit seemed to have good success with it. The vendors would register and post any specials that they have for sale, or overstocked items they want to unload. Group buy forum would have a vender list a product and price of an item if a certain number of people were interested in buying. Transactions between vendor and buyer would be through their own e-mail of course. Just a thought.

"how many vendors would actually register?" - I think it depends on how many vendors are out there that sell Land Rover items. Here's a link to the site mentioned above. Take a look at the classified section at for sale by vendor and also group buy http://www.i-club.com/forums/index.php?s=0df621826bc86660d9cb023156242303
It may be beneficial for vendors who don't list many items on their web site or for any that don't get too many hits or for any that haven't updated the website. It's been over a year since I been on their bbs, but at the time, they had many vendors and even dealerships list items on the site. The only problem I noticed was every once in a while a vendor would list a item at a normal or even higher than retail price and they would catch alot of flack from the members. But look at how many "views" these vendors are gettig when they list something. It just looks like it could be beneficial for both vendors/new vendors/members alike.

I find it interesting that you're drawing off of the Subie boards.... I'm new to the Roo presence on the web, only been doing it a year, and find the differences noticable. There are good things about the formatting, but, it changes the character a bit. FWIW, the bigger board's group buy is at http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=78

I think Brian's point is especially valid: All of the Land Rovers sold in the US are far less in number than all of the Subarus.... there's quite a market for import-car-aftermarket items. Most of those vendors are into multiple makes too, Honda/Mitsubishi/Subaru, etc. etc., whereas in the Rover world, you have a far smaller market. Combine with that the fact that most Rovers stay stock, only a percentage of them are being modified.... you don't have that many Rover specialists out there.....

(while I'm at it, the better Subaru board, IMHO, is at http://www.rs25.com/forums/index.php?s= , FWIW...).

Mine's not a Rex.... I've got a 2.5RS...
a) it was $5k less
b) insurance is (a good bit) cheaper
c) pop an aftermarket SC/turbo on the 10:1 2.5, and you've got more oomph than the 8:1 2.0 (course, you have to watch the boost with the higher compression, tho')....

But, since I've got a Rex hood w/ an STi scoop on the Roo, it is a dead ringer for a Rex... the only thing that gives it away is the fact that it's BRP instead of WRB... oh, I've got covers instead of foglights too, but I've discovered that everyone in the know thinks that I've got a front-mount intercooler since they think I removed the fogs.... :-)
