A while back I used to contribute to the subaru impreza RS owners web - they had a members location menu that had a map of the US/Canada showing each state - when you clicked on the state is gave a list of members in that state along with a link to the photo gallery - thought it was a nice touch

(Obviously) not a moderator, etc., here, but there's a way to search for members by state/country. It's at the bottom of the screen under "User List."

The only problem with a search of this fashion is that individual registered members supply the state. Thus, if I chose not to provide DWeb with my state, it's not listed on there. But it's a starting point...

Correct, and if someone chooses not to supply us with the state, we would not be able to add them to any clickable map, either.. :-)

Jeff, there is a Yahoo Group called Birmabright that has some addresses of LR owners all over the world that have offered to lend a hand to anyone in their area...not a long list but a few pages long.

I think it would be helpful if under our user name (on the left -- where it has our post numbers and registration date) it simply listed our home town, state and country --- or something like that.

Even if the BBS software allowed that (????), it'd still be at the mercy of the individual member to supply that information...and you can get the information through the "User List" I mentioned above, and many, many people list their location in their profiles.

When you're here longer, you'll get a feel for where people are (i.e., posts looking for trails in ____ state, or service near _____ city, etc.)

We don't want to clutter up each message with too much information. However, if you click on the members profile in that box on the left, you will get the information that member choose to make public. Loctaion is optional.

Perhaps we could have a link at the top to a different page with a members map as oppsoed to showing it with each message.
