On other boards, your name has optional info below it- where you live, which rigs you own, stuff like that. I think that would be helpful here. Something like:

Paul Kennington
Location: NE Oregon
'96 Land Rover Discovery (Stock)
'99 Toyota Tacoma SR5 (For Sale)
'04 Mini Cooper S (Ordered 12/03)
'99 Buell Blast

What do you guys think?

Paul,

This is the first and only bulletin board I have ever had any experience with. Curious as to what it takes to run such a site, I asked my brother in law who owns an operates an ISP and maintains websites. I understood enough of what he told me to know that we're all pretty darn fortunate that this board is made available to us. Not only that, at times it appears that this is a "thankless job" for them.

If I were to guess, I think they've probably got way more than enough work just maintaining this site as it is. On top of that, I believe they monitor this site 24/7 to make sure that posts are appropriate and to make sure that "the mud slinging" doesn't get out of hand when the fights begin.

All of the information you listed is available by clicking on the members name, their full profile will come up. You can add whatever you want to it - including your street address and every rover in your fleet. I'm sure a member could even get their profile to list their favorite colors of crayons if a member wanted to.

There is also a search function for sorting the member information. I haven't taken the time to figure out how to use it though.

Jamie

Paul,

With the Discus software (the software that this forum runs on), I dont think thats part of its design without some modifications of critical templates. If they mess those up, the rest of the board could have issues.

Thanks for the feedback. Like I said, this was 'Just and idea'. I was comparing this site to rennlist.com, the other place I hang out. True enough, the information is available here, but less clicks is usually better. Knowing what model & year other users have is very useful because you know who to email with questions.
I'd also like to add that I have been tremendously impressed with the standard of admin on this site. And despite the occasional unnecessary sarcasm, the helpfulness of fellow Rover owners is incredible. I'm sure we've saved many thousands of dollars in troubleshooting with our combined knowledge!
Cheers,
Paul.

LOL, that photo looks like a brochure photo where they park the car on mud or snow and then armorall the tire tread and brush away the tire tracks. Nice RR!

Thanks Rob, it does turn heads when it's all shined up. Oddly the few small dents it does have are at the same level as my kids tricycle handlebars. Strange coincidence? I don't think so!

Blue-
I agree! I am pretty sure that picture was taken the week of the British Invasion Car Show and I had really put the wax to it. It's a very clean truck in and out with 159k miles on it!
