\image {image name here}

This will promt you for an upload. the file can not be any larger than 80 kb or it will not work.
Replace image name here with a name for your image. Also do not add the space between \image and {name}. I had to so it would not upload an image.

You also need to be a registered user. Go to "Edit Profile" in the left frame, and click on Instant Registration. Create a username and password for yourself, and use that when you post your picture. You will also have to be registered to post in the "For Sale" and "Wanted" classified sections.

Ok. Now I´m registered.

But I still do not succeed with the picture.
The pic is on my harddisc drive - or where is it needed ?
If I put the route to it (like {c:\windows\...}) in the "{}" all I get is the little image "your image file here".

What am I doing wrong ?

If i wanted to add a picture of a house named C:\windows\housepic.jpg then I would type this:

\image {house} of course with out the space, then it should ask you about uploading the picture. You would then tell it where the picture is and all should be good.

Picture must not be over 80 KB

Hendrik, you may have registered but it looks like you're not signing on properly. Your name above your post does not include a (username) like mine does (forbesn) or Eric's up there (Evalp) so I don't think you're signing in properly when you post.

I made it (test area)

Point was that I did only preview my post. I saw the "your image file here" and was put off. Had I proceded further the upload would have appeared.
(I have not registered here because I´m lazy and its not necessary for common messages)

THANKS a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

And now the next step:

how do you enclose the gifs. (I like the dancing smileys and spidermans ..).
putting the URL into the {} does not work

This page has all the pics you can include and the commands to do so. Like this:

\clipart {happy} of course with out the space gives you this.

I've got a question along these same lines. I tried posting a picture in the test area and it worked fine but I purposely picked one I knew was small enough. If my picture is over 80K, how do I go about modifying it to reduce it's size and/or quality to get it smaller?

Ronnie,

You have to use some sort of graphics program that can resize/resample the pic so that the file size will be smaller. Sometimes, if you don't want to ruin the quality, and there's a lot of fluff in the picture, you can crop it so that it's smaller, too.

Ya, cropping, saving as a Jpeg and maxing the compresion will do a lot. Basic operating systems should have some cheep program you can use.

Leslie or Eric or anyone for that matter, what program should I be looking for? I've got Win 98 and I don't really see anything to alter photos listed. The closest I see is some sort of Kodak Imaging program but it will only save files as .tiff or .bmp which I can't load up to D-web. At some point I plan on buying a digital camera so if I were to buy software, what does everyone recommend for 'basic' photo editing. I'm not wanting to take any Photoshop classes...

Ronnie, there might be some basic ones you can download off the internet for free or very cheep. If you where wanting/needing a nice one, I would recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements. This can be had for less that $90 and it will do anything you would need and probably more.

For an internet site there are tons to choose from but maybe try versiontracker.com or download.com

Oh and if you do some shopping, some cameras come with good software free...even Photoshop Elements in some cases.
