a slide show of various event pictures? I was inspired by Dom's video of MAR and my screen saver that cycles through all my pictures on my computer. So I decided to put together a slide show, but don't know what would be considered good Rover driving songs.

So what do you all think would be good to play.

I have never seem Deliverance...I think I need to. There were a few references to it at MAR.

That's all you could up with?

or how about paul simon...."slip, slide and away"

Any kid of lyrics will detract from your show. Lyrics will force the brain into making connections between the visual and what they are actually listening to. I would go for instrumentals. You might try a piece or two by Tony Rice, or some Appalachain mountain music -- guitar / dulcimer stuff might do well.

I just think lyrics in presentations / slide shows / documentary distract far more from the experience than add to it.

How about "You are my Hero" by Bette

Use some of the music from 2001. I can imagine some scenes of Discos hitting water, mud, rocks, etc. with the sound of The Blue Danube?
Just a thought.

Greg,

Do you mean The Wind Beneath My Wings, as sung by Bette Midler?

If you could find the instrumental elevator-music-version of it, then I could really get sick to my stomach....

:)

LOL............... is that what that song is called, Leslie? Ever since I saw this thread, the joking thought of that song came to mind, and now I can't get that darn thing out of my head. :)

I can just see it now.................

"did you ever know that your my h..eee...rrrooooo.........." Just as one truck is snatching another with a rope........ :)

Only you would come up with Ice Ice Baby. Well I have pictures of Evan's truck...what songs would be good for him?

I agree that you probably don't want to use songs with lyrics. "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter is a pretty cool instrumental, its to bad they use it in a Buick commercial but I don't think anybody would really notice.

Well look at it from this perspective, if I don't have music with lyrics in there Greg, Garrett and Jason might fall asleep. You know they really do have short attention spans.

Phillip, again, not really an instrumental, but, I have that running through my head whenever I'm zipping home in the Roo, remembering how the black T/A would have been sucking twice the gas to do the same....

lol.....

Phillip, Jerry Reed from Smokey and the Bandit.. Nice choice.. I like his song "She got the gold mine I got the shaft."...

How about some Godsmack or Marylin Manson? Just use the music and filter out the words..

Some type of arrangement of an accordian in concert with a couple of harmonicas.....

That is definately the ticket: Recovery to accordian music.

Sort of in polka time.

Going back to the "2001" music, how about the lead in music, Also Sprac Zaran... whatever that last word was, I never could spell it. You know, "Dum DUm DUUMMMM DaDum boomboomboomboomboomboomboomboom boom. Dum Dum DUMMMM, DaDUM, boomboomboomboomboomboomboomboom Boom". Would sound good while in time with a Rover hitting a river and throwing up a splash!

hello people....

Just a still town girl on a saturday night, lookin' for the fight of her life
In the real-time world no one sees her at all, they all say she's crazy

Locking rhythms to the beat of her heart, changing woman into life
She has danced into the danger zone, when a dancer becomes a dance

It can cut you like a knife, if the gift becomes the fire
On a wire between will and what will be

She's a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she's dancing like she's never danced before
She's a maniac, maniac on the floor
And she's dancing like she's never danced before

I can see flashdance in the background while a rover climbs up the side of a hill. Soon as it's about to crest the top, then chorus chimes in...

yeah baby, that's the ticket!

What about a little DMB?

I guess it really depends on the pics. If you just have shots of rovers parked around the campsites, something mellow. Then if you have some action shots, build up with some light trail action and something a little more pumped up. Hardcore action deserves some intense music.

It really depends on your audience as well.

My favorite "Root" music maker is dead, but not forgotten. Anyone ever heard of Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band? Local D.C. boy who made, well, I can't REALLY say good, LOL! GREAT tunes though, with a really tight band. He wrote about topics not always covered by conventional, nor UNconventional musicians. Some classic cuts are "Dare to be Fat", "You Broke my Mood Ring" and "My Wig Fell Off". Bet you never heard that stuff from NIN!

Root famous? Used to be. Saw them on the H.O.R.D.E. tour in 96. Thats about as big as they ever got. Jim and the chick are doing small venue tours now. Either played or will play soon at the Ramshead in Annapolis.

Here's my suggestion, "G3 Live In Concert" with Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Eric Johnson. Are you familiar with them? Here's a link to purchase the album: http://www.guitar9.com/g3liveinconcert.html or do a search on google ect. check them out.
