I have heard a lot of people suffering a major breakdown of something very shortly after going out of warranty. We debated about it and finally bought a LR extended warranty back in June right before our Disco went out on milage. Now only 3000 mile out of original warranty, the transmission puked. Our investment just paid for itself and I have 2 years/47,000 more miles of coverage left on all the major components. Definatly read the fine print on which ever one you might consider. On the LR one, there are some restrictions on coverage of smaller items as well as a small deductable per visit. Chris von C |

What are the surprising things that they cover/don't cover? Is it obvious in the contract what Rover specific things they do, i.e. ACE in a DII.....? |

Hal Moses at Auto Advantage is selling a bumper-to-bumper warranty that I just got for my 98 D1. It was for 6 years, 100K miles. It covers pretty much everything (seals, oil leaks, manifolds, etc.). I paid about $3400 for a zero deductable policy. The way I look at it, I just fixed my repair charges at just under $600.00 per year for the next 6 years. I'm pretty happy with that! For some reason, there are not a lot of policy options in Florida. Thanks, Mike B. |

My main concern was covering all the really big and expensive things that could really hurt us in the pocket if they went like engine, transmission, transfer case, etc. Best thing to do is ask your dealer for the hand out with the details. Chris von C. |

Make sure that you understand the "6yrs/100k miles" warranty. For MOST companies, that means 6yrs or 100k miles from the IN SERVICE date and not 6yrs/100k from the date of warranty purchase. Hal explained that most people are confused by this. Just thought I would throw that in. |

Thanks Jack, I hadn't thought of it. I got some info from Hal, and it looks good, better than I thought.....I'm not sure if that's good or bad. Thanks, John |
