Hey. I just moved to Seattle a couple weeks ago and am anxious to get in some wheeling while I still have my Land Rover!! Does anybody want to take me out (off-roading, that is) and/or have some good trail suggestions?

I went to the first PCRC.org meeting a couple weeks ago but was on Vancouver Island last weekend so missed the Northwest Challenge.

Hey Andrew,
I am in Seattle but.... My LR is hitting the body shop this week. There are a bunch of guys up here that go out pretty regularly. I recommend hitting the Lake Isabel trail there are some good topo's online for the trail and its pretty challenging after the rain. It sounds like your LR is leaving you whats up with that?

My wife wants it :-( I'm here in Seattle as a marital refugee. She's looking after my dog and let's just say a Rhodesian Ridgeback doesn't fit in a BMW Z3...so it looks like a car trade is in order.

Actually we're selling the Z3 (wanna buy it?) so it looks like a cheap junker is in my immediate future. I need to get as much off-roading in as I can while I can!!! HHHeeellppp mmmmeeeeee :-)

Should have mentioned, Jeremy: I hope your LR is OK & not too much expensive damage...

As Jeremy stated, there are a few of us around. However personally I have yet to get mine muddy and I've owned it for something like 2-3 months now!!! Damn family obligations... Oh, well. Shouldn't be much longer before the wife is out of the nausea stage with our second and I can leave my son home to go play.

Hey Jeremy - I've got a guy I work with who bought a '95 LWB after riding in my Disco and getting the bug. Gord'n is putting a spring suspension on it next week. After that he wants to go hit some trails (for his first time ever, this is his first four wheel drive). He'd like to do some undamaging wheelin, should I look for another group to take him out for the first time? Sorry...

Todd you are a Man of Icons.

Any good recommendations for a place nearby to go by myself Sunday afternoon? Isabel Lake looks like a blast, especially with more than 1 vehicle...

well check out the power lines 2 exits past the fire training center on I90, or maybe the cascade loop highway, that is very low chance of damage.

Jeremy that is some disturbing carnage. I'm sure there's a story behind that one...

Well, a few options. I looked at the Cascade Loop and it seems like it's all paved?!? What is that, some sort of cruel joke?? You're right, very little chance of damage, unless I fall asleep and drive into an oncoming Yugo.

Maybe I'll try following the power lines. You're right about not going out alone - unfortunately I have nobody to go with so that's how I'll be doing it. So I guess hopefully it will be somewhere fun and scenic but not too remote or hairy.

Andrew, you and I should head up to Walker Valley sometime. I'm running out of trail partners :( I'm sure the ex would rather keep the Z3 after a session up there.

I suggest attending the next Pacific Coast Rover Club meeting. They should have a snow run coming up in early winter, and they are pretty tame while still being fun.

I went on the cascade loop this summer and a portion of it was single lane dirt road. Nothing rough but there were some monster potholes. They close the road during the winter. I think its like 12 miles of dirt road the rest is paved. Nice views from the scenic trip. Really easy.... yes. But a nice Sunday trip.

There are also some "side roads" off the cascade loop road if you look for them. Another place to look are the numerous paths off Reiter road just East of Gold Bar. Go past the entrance to Lake Isabel and there are several other trail systems out there. The amount of damage is entirely up to you. I regularly go in there by myself and have a blast doing things I'm fairly confident I can get out of or think I can walk out of if I'm wrong. :) Everytime I go up I find something new.

Well I went up just east of the Fire Training Center off I-90. I spent about 4 hours up there yesterday, driving around and then wandering through the forest. Awesome recommendation, thanks!

There's quite a bit of 4-low/locked diff stuff up there that is easily accessible and doable without a spotter. Perfect.

Moe, I'll definitely go out with you! Just let me know when. My email address is spam at clarke dot ca

Don't go anywhere with Tiki-Matt without having him sign a VooDoo waiver first.

Thanks for the springs Andrew. Maybe I'll get them on before too long.

Are you all talking about the Mountain Loop Highway 530 from Arlington to Darington? There are some good places up there unless you get behind some Sunday driver that doesn't understand when you want them to pull over. Check out the Sauk River Falls, a simple .5 mile hike for something easy and really neato. There are tons of other hikes as well. Someone told me of a guy out there some place selling his 40 acre plot with no power because "too many people were moving close". LOL.

I might be up for beer this Thursday if anyone is getting together. And maybe some 4x4ing on the 2nd or 3rd of Nov if my reservoir ever shows up. If not I'll take the Rangie and just puss out when it looks like Jeremy will damage something.

How sad that the turn around factor is all based on when I "look" like I am going to damage something. :)

Beer Thursday at the Triangle?

I need to make up for the last time I met up with the boys. After just one beer, I had to leave the Elysian and the trip home was not pretty

Starting time is usually between 5:00-5:30. The Triangle is located in downtown Freemont on Leary Way.

Coming south on I5, take the exit after 80th st (73rd, I belive). Turn right at the stop sign. Go through two stop signs and at the third stop sign take a wide left onto E Greenlake Way. Follow for quite sometime as it wraps around and passes Greenlake, pass through two sets of lights and keep heading south as the road changes name to Stone Way N. Continue down the hill, turn right on 35th st and it will take you up a small hill and over into Freemont. Go through the traffic light and you will see a Triangular shaped building on your left.

I hear you, Peter. I have the domestic duties tonight and couldn't go either. Maybe next time. At least I can sit at home, look at Discoweb pictures of Landrover's on 22" rims, and know that there are worse things in life. :)

Damn, what is going on! Rick you considering upgrading to 22"s?

Besides my favorite girl, the only other to turn up on time was the newcomer. Good to meet you Andrew. And, as always, good to see the old fella Kevan who turned up late, driving the '62 Merc while the rangie suffers repairs.

Yeah, Matt. After riding around with the new shocks, springs, and 265/75 tires, I just got tired of the extra height around town. I'm building a quick-switch kit for low profile tires, different shocks and even custom neon lights built into the underside of me RTE sliders. :)

I've been inspired.

It's the only way to go. Stylin' in the mud or around town. Of course, duct taping my front bumper back on might ruin the whole look. :)

You boys and girls need to come up North for some driving sometime. I've really been enjoying the changes to the truck.

Hey I said I'd help. But only if I get that $1.25 you owe me!!! I think with interest over the last week it's up to about $75 now. :-)

The only day I'd be able to do it is tomorrow (Sunday) though.

Peter,
You are going to have to work hard not to meet me.... Though I haven't seen you at work in a few weeks.... I get the truck back Nov. 1st (fingers crossed) Maybe we can go play in the mud.... and Peter playing doesn't mean pulling you out of the mud, look before you leap :)

Andrew,
Tomorrow...errr....today won't work, sorry. And as for the money, let the record show that when asked "would you like that in quarters or nickles" your response was, and I do so emphaticly quote

Quote:

"Actually you can have them for
free. $1.25 isn't worth worrying about. Go buy yourself something
pretty..."

Saving old email helps sometimes. :)

Katka,
You didn't seem me all week did ya? Watch yourself, or I'll get your name on the next rif list. :( I want to go some place other than mud. We can't dent your rig in mud.

Todd,
I swear this damn board fucks up your spelling on porpoise.
