I'm thinking of purchasing a Range Rover soon and wondered if there are any disadvantages to buying a LWB model over the standard wheelbase. I know it will be a little less agile off road but what about for everyday use? Put it this way if there were two identical ones for sale one being a LWB and one a standard which would you choose and why? Also is the updated interior and AC system worth holding out for a 95' model? Thanks for any info for a newbie.

LWB is obviously a little bigger so not quite as easy to manuever on the street compared to a "shorty". Still not anything like a Suburban or other Land Tank. LWB has tons more legroom in the rear. I am 6'5" and I fit better in the backseat than the front seat. Obviously the engine is bigger and quite a bit more powerful given it's only about 20 more HP. Mileage is about the same for both vehicles.... Bad! I personally love the '95's interior compared with earlier models. Much more refined, what you would expect from a Range Rover. I also think the '95 will hold it's resale a little better than previous years.

If I were debating LWB or SWB, I would definitely get a '95 no matter what. Then comes what will work best for your needs. Are you going to use it off-roas? If not then I would opt for the LWB. Heck even if you will use it off-road you probably won't use it to the extent that the extra 8" or so will be trouble.

Also, forgot the mention that the '93 and up LWB and some SWB have traction control on the rear wheels. Very cool feature that actually works well.

Enough for now.
