Thought this was interesting. One of my coworkers left a little blurb from Auto Week on my desk. Thought I would share it with you.

One Big Happy
Look for the sharing that started with Jaguar to continue between Land Rover and parent company Ford. Ford president Nick Scheele insists that Ford and Land Rover trucks are essentially completely different, but he acknowledges some sharing of powertrains between Ford's next-generation F-150 due next year as a 2004 model and future Land Rovers would make financial sense. And Land Rover engineers have been spotted hot-weather testing their latest powertrains in vehicles disguised as Explorers and Mercury Mountaineers.
Word from Europe is the next Discovery, due in Spring 2004 will get a 200-hp Land Rover-tuned Explorer 4.0-liter V6 along with a 300-hp Jaguar 4.2-liter V8. Meanwhile, the Range Rover Sport model due later in 2004 will be fitted with a Jaguar-tuned 250-hp 3.2-liter V6 and a 400-hp supercharged 4.2-liter V8.

There is a an amalgamated picture of what looks like a Mercury truck of some type with the very distinct Land Rover grill. It has the caption "Land Rover by Mercury?"

Just thought I would put that out there.
