Just a pic of what things look like this morning for me. Power out and lots of ice, but pretty cool.

Very pretty.

I just walked outside and snapped a pic too, but it's still early and overcast, so it doesn't seem as brightly colored as it looks in person, especially on a sunny afternoon....

Tuesday, I was out on an old mine bench, examining some portals that we need to excavate and drain to prevent blowouts from knocking the houses over that are down the hill. In the soggy ground on the bench, I spotted this little fella....

Very cool pic Leslie.

I just got an email from my folks in who live north of Billings, MT and it was down to 5 degrees this morning. Not much snow yet though.

I'd love for a nice snowy winter, like we use to have!

Wonderful pictures guys! Leslie, that's a National Geo pic! gp, I'm stunned that such a short drive up the road from me has SNOW already. I know y'all love snow, but in my line of work a cold, snowy winter is painful. I grant you all MY snow and cold temps.

Man do I miss colors! I look out our window and see two colors, White from the foot of snow on the groud and green from the pine trees. Colorado is great but, man do I miss the colors.

P.S Vail got 22" of powder in the last two days :)~

Thanks, all....

I don't shoot as much as I used to, anymore I'm just using the digitals that we have here at work doing "documentation photography", but occasionally I'll dig out the Nikon and have a go at a few things....

Hmmm..... speaking of, I've got some that need to be developed....

Jeez-those are some nice pics! I am especially jealous of the frosty farm with the red barn-very picturesque.

Here in SoCal, it's an overcast 61F and the only thing outside my window are some rats playing tag in a raggedy-ass palm tree!

Ya, well you can kiss my ass.. Not on the z left side and not on z right side but, right in z middle.

I remember that movie even though I probably quoted it wrong and can't remember what the hell it was called.

Justin,

My parents live about 20 miles south of Roundup. They've been out there for 7 years now. It has been prety mild the past few years. I know when they moved there in 95, that is was regulary -10F for most of the winter. I haven't been out there in the winter yet, one of these years I'll drive out and see whta it's like. Where's Miles City. Sounds familar.

sean. one of my best friends is the manager there at the Lion. has been there since we graduated from PSU in '94. if you are ever there ask for Scott and tell him Garrett sent you. haha. he is a nut case. one of the best teli skiers on the mountain and parties 24/7 like it's 1999. lol. always a good time there.
yeah that pic is looking out my window here at my office in state college, pa. that's the meyer farm. local dairy famers.

no, but i ski with alot of guys who do. especially my vail friends. they all teli. and they do some crazy shit on them. they are pretty extreme!! haha.
there are a few nice small mountains in northern PA along the border. just north of wellsboro, pa. small mountain, but good runs, uncrowded and remote. other than that i don't bother with PA. up to VT or out to CO.

have you heard of mt bohemia? its a new hill in upper migh. it sits in the middle of lake superior and has 1000ft of 100% true double black diamond skiing. from the second you get off the lift to the point you get back on its all true double diamond. and on top of that it gets more snow then any other place in the continental US because that fact its in the center of the big lake. It was a little known hike and ski telli skiers secret for years but now its open for all to ski...it makes mad river glen or killington look like easy terain...really

yea I have a number of times its down right sick. in the center of the extreeeeeem back country there are 50ft rock drops and shit

it has all kinds of terain some open runs some are like 10ft natural bumps through the trees

one of my best friends sold his place at the foot of jackson hole after we went up there. he said why spend the money and time to travel when mt bohemia has everything.

we are looking to buy an old building up there and turn it into a winter skiing summer wheeling destination. the trails up there are as good during the summer as they ski in the winter

never been up there at all. use to spend my summers in michigan though. up in leland....about an hour from traverse city. but never in the winters. our house was right on lake michigan and my dad would tell me the snow would get about a foot from the tops of the windows.
but that looks pretty sweet. that's one hell of a road trip for me though. maybe rob can ride 'bitch'. haha.

well get ready for some icy roads upper Migh roads are notoriously icy. but hey if your game we have a cabin that sleeps a buncha people we rent up there for like $60 so it ends up being like $5 a person

migh tech is like 20 miles away as well in houghton so it can be a awsome party trip as well

Musky,
I'm a pinhead and an alpine guy it just depends on the day. Telli is a very different world from alpine but its hard to rip the half pipe with those loose heels.

Eric,
The epic film you speak of is "Hot Dog". The only hollywood ski movie worth watching. "What the fuck a chineese downhill?" Endo 1984

yea last year it was just certain weekends but this year they are doing it all the time.

they aint gonna lose alot of dough, first off guys always follow girls and second this place really is such a over the top scarry place to ski it will never be overrun by huge numbers of people.

its so cool not having to dodge the masses
