Have you ever had someone (friend in this case) buy a new non-LR SUV and tried to compare the two thinking they have one up on you?? I have a buddy who just purchased a used Mercury Mountaineer (2000 and it's nice), and was quick to tell me how his is better in some way. The only thing I could think of is the repair cost, but other than that, there is no comparison. Every run into some who is jealous?

grocery getting bitch with his new SUV!

I have a guy here at work giving me a rash of crap about buying a used LR, saying i must be making to much money etc. when the ahole just went out and bought a 47K GMC Envoy. He's telling me he can take me off road anyday, blah blah blah. The only nice hting about that piece of junk is the inline 6. About time an american company started using it again!

Too funny... Last Year I was at Mount Snow (Vermont) and there was a FORD F350 trying to pull out a FORD F250. The F350 tires kept spinning and there was a ton of weight in the back of the truck. I pulled my truck up and offered to help, after being called a yuppie, they took me up on the offer and pulled the F250 out of the snow bank, without any hesitation! They were impressed.

Interesting story...

Monday after MAR, I had to go to a lunch meeting with some vendors selling us a $50,000 optical storage system. Off course Pearl(my truck) was very muddy from the weekend trip. I had to meet them at a nice steak house by Bloomingdales Mall so I did. During lunch, the conversation went from Business to cars and trucks

The sales manager went on and talked about "this idiot" who's parked outdside with a real muddy Land Rover. "How can you go to a place like this with a car looking like that?!" He went on talking about how happy he is with his Infiti QX4...blahblahblah...I kept quiet. After lunch we had a smoke outside and I told him I needed to go and that I would call them about the sale. I then hop into Pearl with him looking at me really stunned! The look on his face was priceless.

-glenn
obviously, they lost the sale...hehehe

Zak - I say we take him out with us, and leave him when he gets stuck! Maybe come back later if he's appropriately humbled.

Glenn -
$10 for gas to get to lunch
$25 for lunch
$20 in cocktails
$1 for smokes
The look on his face---PRICELESS

Let's get off road dammit!!!
