Hi folks. Just wondering if people have pet names for their Discos/Land Rovers??

I sometimes call mine "the beast"; my friends and family call it "the sweet rig". :)

Noah, the series II land rover is my favorite though.

No of the others have names that stuck

My first was a 94 that was just "Beast." Beast died from catastrophic heart burn (cat-fire) and was replaced with 98 LE called "Snooty Beast." Both were basic black petrol suckers that can get me to a fire/wreck/medic call with all my stuff.

"Snooty" as it is the 50 year anniversary edition with all the trim, whistles and bells. FWIW, it makes a nice emergency response vehicle. Already have the siren and a temp light installed, will be installing a light bar and moving the dash light back inside after Christmas. Plenty of room under the rear cover for bunker and woodfire gear, traffic markers, battery cables and towing items.

I have been referring to my D1 as Loki due to the way little things keep happening to it. My wife calls it something that is not mentionable in a public forum :-)

LOL...Tom, "Joseph" and "Michele"?? Ahhh, giving people names. Gotta love it. It's like when you name your dog, "Paul" or something like that. Throws people off.

Steve, is it at least an affectionate unmentionable?? :)

BlueBoy for the 109 since its Marine blue and my wife decided it was a boy toy. The RR usually is just called the green Rover as it is Mosswood green which is a very strange color imho.

Mike,
What is/are the differences between the 98 LE and LSE? I put a CD changer in when I picked this one up and it does not have rear seats/air. All other items as per the usual package: electric heated seats, dual moons, wood trim and so forth. Thanks for your time.

Bill,
The LSE was the top of the line in '98. They had the CD changer and all came with Light Stone leather, heated seats and burled walnut on center console and shifter and front and rear doors and different rims. Also body color mirrors and chrome bumpers with body color end caps. The only other option I could have gotten was the rear seats and air, which I didn't. Also I think you could only get the LSE in certain colors ( white gold, brg, buluga black and I think oxford blue). Also LR offered a 50th anniversary color which was a green with a gold tint to it. I think that is it.

rd,

Not until the unveiling of the undercover rd RR emerges out into the light can we consider color swapping. still, that Mosswood is just a bizarre color. what is it?? green + blue + ???? thx.

Mike,

Thanks for the info. For some reason, in my little pea sized brain, I was trying to figure out the reason for some people doing what I personally considered to be an invitation to the local asylum: Chroming the bumper on a LR. I guess that I got the cheesy Duragrain in the brown/sand color. Thats okay, the soot doesn't stain it at all on the return from a fire.

Nice thing about the black Disco: The mirrors always look like the body (especially if you don't wash it for six months or so).

Thanks,

Bill
