Looking to get some folks together for a weekend of camping/socializing and wheeling in the GWNF Dry River Ranger District this coming weekend.

Stock vehicles are fine.

Weather looks like it's going to be favorable. Usually camp up at Meadows Knob. If you're interested, email or post and I'll send you the specifics.

Went last weekend and hooked up with a few folks from DWEB. Mike Noe, John, James and Corrine... Hoping to get a larger group this time and perhaps we'll find Mike's missing mud flap!

Jason

Jason, email me the info. I should be able to go. Just waiting to see if the little woman is going to have any issues with me being gone all weekend.

Eric, why don't we bring our pregnant wives along. We'll make camp, and they can hang out in the great outdoors and hold the fort down, while we go out and abuse our disco's????

Just trying. My wife loves camping, and wheeling, but the wheeling part hurt her to much now. Oh well. WE'll just have to wait til after March and put the little one in the Britax.

I'd love to, but have a ton of stuff to do at the house, plus the Mrs's gets mad enough when i go wheelin' on day trips and she can't go. She'd be really upset if I went down there for the weekend. Only way I could go is if there was a pretty big group, and a few people stayed behind at a base camp. Wheelin' just isn't to safe for her right now.

I'm hoping to go to Paragon this Sunday, care to drive up to this????

No, I don't see me doing Paragon. I'm not even sure that I'm going on this outing. Still waiting to see what the little woman says about the leaves I may be raking this weekend. Probably won't know till Thursday.

Here are some of the specifics......

Some of us will be heading out Friday afternoon with an arrival to the camp site around 5PM. Set up camp, cook dinner, drink, smoke and do whatever you like for the evening.
Saturday morning, breakfast, rendezvous with whoever is coming out on Sat morning, let them setup camp, and then go wheeling. Lunch, more wheeling, back to camp for dinner and more socializing. Sunday morning break camp and either more wheeling then lunch at Luigi's in Harrisonburg, or break camp and hit IHOP in H'burg before going our seperate ways.

I'll be on CB channel 4 and FRS channel 4 (0).
I'll be heading down from Frederick MD.

Email me for my cell number.

Below are directions to the camp.

Directions to Meadows Knob, GWNF Dry River Ranger District

Really, It's only supposed to rain Friday night and then cloudy Sat and Sun with 10% chance of rain. At least thats the forecast for Harrisonburg. That's cool anyways I guess.. Least now I'll have the leaves raked so I'm free for next time.

Yeah, sorry man. Camping on Meadows Knob is really nice but if it's in the 40's in the valley it'll be in the 20's on the hill plus the damn wind......
I was just up there 2 weekends ago and we lucked out on weather but hell, I've got a Trek rear bumper to mount anyway and you've got leaves to rake. Should have the roof rack to install by Friday as well......
Oh well, till next time.
Cheers!

Trek Rear Bumper and a roof rack? Jason, you have been busy.

Hey there Meat Burgler, you know I'm not here to play. The Trek is under my desk as I speak (everybody at work is wondering what the hell it is), Rear skid is on the way, Adventure rack and ladder are on the way and should be here tomorrow, John's buiding my Slimline front with A-bar and skidplate and Warn 9500, also building my sliders.
What's up.....

That's gonna be one bad-ass low rider, man. You need some HD somethin' under there...

true, the sliders alone will sag your stock susp by at least 1/4 an inch.

Yeah yeah, I'll be shopping for susp this weekend I think. Any opinions on OME vs. Rovertyme?
I want the best of both worlds, lots of flex but highway drivability as well. Oh, and compatability with ACE.

I'm sure some one will chime in if I'm wrong but, I don't think that ACE and OME are going to work together.

Meat Burgler? Are you sure that's not Mike hiding under your desk, Boy? Damn Drunken Sailor! Listen to Eric and Mike and go buy some HD's and a cold weather sleeping bag.

Michael Noe (Noee)

I've got OME HD "2inch" with ACE, no problemo. Just a little more "groaning" around tight curves. But, Jason's got SLS too, so that adds something to the decision process.

Eric:
Why would OME and ACE cause a problem but RTE lift and ACE would not? Unless you're talking body lift...

Didn't think that the air bags and springs would play nice with each other.

ACE does not mean airbags, SLS means bags. Many rigs are ACE w/out SLS (mine is). From what I understand, converting from SLS to coils on a D2 is not that hard but might require a testbook entry or two.

What's interesting is that SLS should "self-level", so if you lifted the front and then just put longer shocks on the rear...I wonder if that would work...?

Seems like EE has a write up on this somewhere.

That's good to know. I figured ACE and SLS both had the bags. But, then I have a D1 and never really looked at the D2s since I don't want one.

Yeah, they're 2 seperate options, SLS and ACE. As Mike knows, I've got both. I noticed John at RT has an airbag 'spacer' which I believe is meant to retain the SLS feature when running with longer springs. I would like to keep the factory options if possible......

I might be selling my RTE 2inch springs and shocks for the 3 inch RTE. I've had them for 5 months and have loved them. I can't make it this weekend, but if I were to camp up there again and it was cold and windy, I'd just set up in the trees or at a location that is not the highest with least protection.
