Complete newbie, but I was just recently looking into buying a Discovery and was wondering if there are some things to avoid. Thinking of something between '94 and '98 and was just wondering if there were MAJOR things that differentiate models built over that time. Please, this is just a general general question from a kid that could care less for whether one year had a large cupholder as opposed to another year or the various changes in interior. Just trying to not end with a lemon. Thanks! |

The general consensus is that 97 and 98 are the most reliable. |

as with any used car - check service records and have it inspected. 97-99 - they went to the GEMS fuel management system. also check to see what has been done under warranty. a super low mileage car might be more trouble than one with average miles.... that's about it. what ever you do - don't butcher up your rig and make it look like a jeep. modify with decorum and enjoy steve |

In the US they are all lemons. But I like making lemonade Yes I am delusional, you would be too if you had an engine tranny and t case apart all at the same time.
If I had to get one I would get a 95. Early injection system but with the crossdrilled t-case and side impact beams and lumbar support the 94 lacked If you are in the UK disregard what I said. Ron |

this has been discussed before, but any year can be good or it could be bad. its all in the check book and what you want in your truck. |
