In the Twin Cities lately, SUVs and trucks parked around college campuses are getting keyed, antennae broken and getting "tickets" citing them for ruining the environment by driving a gas guzzler. Somebody got my antenna the other day when wife was taking some courses at a school in Minneapolis. I know that some of you guys are in college and wonder if this is happening around where you are.

Yeah, it happens around here thankfully the school is small enough that everyone pretty much knows about the ass beating they will be getting from me if they touch my truck so it generally gets left alone, with the exception of a few fliers here and there, and they target the ones driven by people who won't kill them when they are caught.

Jake and Will

Sorry to hear that, if you ever catch one of them run em OVER !
I guess that is what happens when you take young minds that think a professor’s words are the bible.
They lack the basic integrity to absorb information, educate themselves on the subject enough to make a reasonable assessment, and then use their minds and rational thinking to come up with a conclusion.
Hmmmm maybe these kids should take a vacation to the Islands of Borneo to take in a deep breath of tropical air and plot their next move against the BIG BAD SUV !

What's worse: A SUV that is DOT emissions compliant and road safe or a VW Bus that is spewing smoke from an oil burning engine and is covered in Sierra Club / Greenpeace stickers?

Messing with other people's vehicles should be a capital offense. The worst part is those little bastards doing it to you will be full fledged yuppies in a matter of years driving their own SUVs around. Eventually one of em will get caught in the act, shot dead, and maybe the rest will get scared off.

Any car parked in Georgetown gets keyed. Doesn't matter what it is and people do it just for the hell of it. I think for the greenies keying peoples cars I'd put a two strap around their leg and drag them a few hundred yards behind my truck.

If Jesus came back today, he would need to drive an Isreali Amored car just to make it through Bethleham to keep from getting stoned to death by the rock throwing Palestenians and Isreali settlers.

He may not be so worried about emmisions and MPG...

Just a thought.

Problem is, if my rig was keyed, I can't say that I'd even notice!

Bright side is when they approach it to perfom their act, they'll think that they've already done it once and they'll leave.

The part that cracks me up is what happens after they key it.

Oh, you don't like my gas guzzling SUV and you make a cosmetic blemish on it. So I take it to this place that uses some pretty unenvironment-friendly chemicals to paint, coat and wax it back to normal.

I'm also glad I'm in the "wouldn't notice if it happend" group.

What does it prove, anyway?

Yeah, I had a roomate who's girlfriend was a big activist. When I bought the rover he told me that she was going to try and put a "ask me how I am helping the enviroment" sticker on my truck. I then asked him how many miles she drove her oil leaking old subaru... He thought for a few minutes. Then I asked him how much he thought I drove a week (I car pool to work, sometimes w/ him or I rode the bus :) I then asked him to explain to his GF that we got the same gas mileage on our rigs and I drove far less then she did. Now who was helping the enviroment more? I find it quite funny that people get all bent out of shape about mileage and such but when you ask them if they car pool or bus they generally say no. Then you ask them if they have a hybid or fuel efficent car.... they say no... they are to expensive.

If anyone took the time to key my piece, I'd just laugh.. bunch of assholes with nothing but jealousy if you ask me. My Disco is beat and scratched so much, I really don't think I'd be too upset. Now if I owned a nice D2, like the one we're looking at for my wife, I'd have to castrate some poor bastard.. Didn't know your rig had been keyed Will...

Curtis N (Curtis)

Here is a not-so-funny thought: These greenies key vehicles thinking it will upset the owner. If the key scratch truly upset the owner, he would then have the scratched body panels repainted. This would obviously place more harmful vapors in the air. Ergo, logic says that these "greenies" are simply contributing to the destruction of the very thing they want to protect.

Fortunately, I have not even buffed my D2 in a little over a year so it is likely that I will not even notice when Granola Pitule scratches mine :)

Yeah, that was mentioned a ways back in the thread. Unfortunately the greenies are simpletons with only one thing on their minds. They are damn the torpedoes full speed ahead types who put no forethought into consequences. They're basically brainwashed and until they grow up there's not much we can do as the police won't touch em and if you kill or maim them (as tempting as it may be)you'll be the one going to jail. Sad but true.

The only way to deal with idiots like environazi's is cool-headed logic and facts. By reacting with violence or returning the destruction just gets you in trouble and gives them more reasons for fingerpointing. I would have no trouble giving up Rovers and fourwheeling if I truly believed I was "harming' the environment. But it just isn't so.

Here in California we have the truly scary result of environazis running our govt. and forcing their ill-begotten agendas on us-witness CARB and the attempts to force/coerce electric vehicles on us (I personally like hydrogen power-it's retrofittable and allows the internal combustion engine and the economies associated with it to continue-just don't drive through Lakehurst, NJ!!)

Anyways-the only thing worse than ignorance is ignorance combined with arrogance...(including myself in that)

I saw some of the WWJD (What Would Jesus Drive) propaganda on the news this evening. They were promoting all of the hybrid, low emissions, deathtrap vehicles that are so popular with Conventional Wisdomists these days.

An item to note is that Jesus was highly unconventional in his day. He advocated the very things that the educators of his day said one should NOT do. In retrospect, this seems to put a twist on the message of those trying to send it. I truly think Jesus would be advocating many other things that would need to be done before he would condemn SUV's.

We had an incident at a dealership close by over the weekend just like that. But they didn't key them, they used some acid and wrote all over the trucks. They even put their group name on them, something like UEL or something like that. I like Bruce Willis in Armagedon when he is using the green peace boat as a target while practicing his golf swing off of his off shore drilling rig and letting them know how much diesel that damn tug boat uses. great scene!!

Okay, I know I have a first class ticket to Hell, sooooooo....

If I were the Big Man (Jesus), and I had to come back to check on the planet; I would cruise around in this:

For those of you that are car challenged, that is a 1972 Caddy with a 500 big block. That's right folks, a 8.2 Litre V-8 powers that sex machine!

Ya know, I actually thought about getting one of them thar hybrid cars when I was looking 10 months ago but you know what I came up with when I compared it to keeping my Jeep GC? It would take 10 YEARS! to break even cost wise. As in the damn hybrid was $22K!! I liked the idea of fuel efficeincy (sp) in a daily driver and when I'm not 4x4ing, but DAMN (guess I'm going to Hell too) it just ain't worth it.

Besides, I don't think someone who walks on water would care about driving much. It's just an American mentality that he WOULD drive a car. Give me a break, Jesus would ride the bus and work close to where he lived. Jesus isn't an American, no matter what David Bowie says.

Not sure why, but I felt inclined to post words from a song as well... "God's Kid Brother

Are we not the living proof of the idiot God who placed us here
Are we not his dirty children, his unwashed sons who he holds dear
Are we not the proof that there may've been another creator

If this is the ultimate truth, it had to come out sooner or later
I've looked for the reason why we're here
I've kept on searching 'til it was clear
I've looked for excuses-I can find no other
We must be the product of God's kid brother

Their ivy halls are closed to us
We scrape to survive and we taste the dust
The things that we weren't meant to know
Are spoke of in places where we can't go
So don't tell me you still find it hard to believe
That we were made by a different God

Are we not the proof that there may've been another creator
Let's run to the volcano and toss a virgin in the crater

Maybe there are two Gods
A perfect God who made all those perfect people,
And another God who made the rest of us.
And maybe, just maybe, somewhere there's a heavenly choir
That sings off key

We'll dodge our way through life and hope for something greater "
