Quick question, what is the largest offroad tire size that you can put on a 4.6 using 16in. wheels, still allowing for the suspesion to fully articulate and not rub at full lock while turning?

Thanks, Paul

Paul check the Resources, then under LR Resources there is a RR site by John Brabyn lots of info.

I remember he showed a guy with 31x11.50 Baja Claws, But it didn't say whether they rubbed or not.

Thanks

It says in the tire and wheel section that he had no rubbing or other problems with that size.

Paul do you have a 01 RR 4.6 if so how do you like it. any problems. The wife wants me to trade my Disco for a RR if I do I will look at a 99 or 2000 4.6.

Actually, it's my freinds truck, I have a '91 RRC. He doesn't seem to have had any problems with it after owning it for a year. But he does baby the ever living hell out of it. I think the main difference between '99 and '00 was the switch to the Bosch managment system. From what I've been heard, is much better and more reliable than the Gems system.

Paul, is your friend planning to take this vehicle off road? I ask because at full articulation, a 265/75 would rub ever so slightly but not in most cases. I know of people using 265/75 with no problems. I run 245/75 with no prblems what so ever and they look good because they fill up the space nicely. If he plans to off road, then a 235/85 would also work with even less rubbing than the 265/75. Also, I just purchased a 91 RRC. How do you like yours? Any problem areas I should expect?

Paul, a 255/70R16 will require the removal of the front mud flaps if you have them. A Michellin LTX in this size rubs when your EAS is in entry/exit mode and your turning the wheels. The inner fender panels are getting light scuffing when the corners of the tires are projected into the extreams of the inner fender area during oposite corner wheel tee-ter-totering of the axels. As this thread matures some, you'll find some conflicting messages. That is because the same sized tires from different companies are quite different in actual size. Again www.rangerover.net is a good place to get a leg up.

JR, I love my '91 Classic, it's had it's share of problems though. I bought it from the original owner so I new the truck was well taken care of. I think almost too well taken care of, I don't think it was properly broken in to say the least. The worst problem until now was the ABS pump, kind of spendy, but the latest seems to be the crack I have developed in the block. It keeps pushing the coolant out of the fill cap in the resovoir. I have had the heads done twice and the last time the problem started again within 100 miles of leaving my mech.

I finally decided to bite the bullit and do the 4.6 conversion in mine.

I already have in place the full Jacobs ignition kit, Borla exhaust, cross drilled and slotted rotors using the Kevlar pads, OME HD w/ Bilstiens and one hell of a stereo system.

I don't plan on ever getting rid of this one, so I don't mind making the investment.

These trucks are deffinetely an addiction that few understand and those that do wish they didn't.

Thanks for the info, Paul
