Hey all

I just acquired a set of used RTE sliders that are in need of powdercoating.

Anyone here know of a shop in the San Jose area (Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, Cupertino, Saratoga) that does good powdercoating work?

Thanks!

My suggestion would be to talk to a local custom motorcycle shop (not a Harley dealer) and find out where they get their work done. These guys usually know the shops that deal in custom or short-run powder coating.

Thanks for the tip! If I can't find anyone who already knows of a good powdercoating place, I'll definitely take a look at that.

Craig,

FWIW, I would go to Lowes or Home Depot and buy that spray in Bed liner crap for trucks. Sliders will get beat up under normal use; so why not apply something more durable than a powdercoat?

Paul-

I never thought about any alternatives to powdercoating. Some questions though....

What about metal prep... I would need to strip the existing paint off... then what? Primer?

How much does that spray-in bed liner stuff cost?

Is it difficult to get an even coat of spray, or is it just like spray paint?

I like the sound of your idea if it's a viable alternative!

Craig,

I would sand the entire surface with a medium coarse grit paper. Then clean with alcohol or MEK for final prep. Find a place to hang and spray on the linex or Rhino Guard. Check your local listings Craig for guys who perform the spray-in bed liner service. Most of them will treat anything for a small fee.

Good info...

Will this stuff stick on bare metal? :)

It should as long as you rough up the surface with sand paper for adhesion.
