I came back from thanksgiving day break last night and when i went to lock the driver's side door to my 89 RR Classic, at first the key would not go all the way in. I took it out and tried putting it in about 3 times before final getting frustrated and jamming it in their hard. After I did this, the key now goes in, but wont turn either way to unlock or lock the door, it just wont move left or right. I tried the key on the passenger side door and it worked, so it's not the key. I also tried unlocking and locking the doors from inside the car by pushing the lock down on the drivers side door. The locks didnt close, but i could hear the mechanism trying to work. What is wrong with my door? Is it the handle, actuator? I am kinda stumped here, any help would be really appreciated.

sounds like the tumblers inside the lock are bent and wont corrospond with the correct spot. i just had mine out this weekend while i was changing handles. you'll probably have to order new lock mechanism from land rover based off of your vin. it's pretty simple to install, took me 45 min from start to go. anyway you slice it you need to get into the door and take a look to even get to the handle.
