Is anyone else getting dreary weather yet? I'm hearing it's 3 more weeks till winter, but sure seems like winter to this southern boy in Philly.

Having spent 8 years in Houston, and all my life prior in Georgia, 25 in November is killing me. :) I'm not used to it. It is going to be a hard winter I think this year, based on all the speculations I've heard.

I hear you Greg. it is unusually chilly here in the Virginia Beach area. i can usually go from my place to my rover and just use the seat warmers on the way to work. But recently, I have been using the heater as well. We've been in the high 40's for the past couple of weeks, but at least the sun is shining.

Come on Greg, this is great weather! I'm driving up to Vermont tomorrow just to play in the snow. Not doing any skiing this year, just taking the disco for a nice road trip and see some white fluffy stuff.

Love the cold weather.

It's nice when there is snow, but when it's just cold as hell and looks grey outside , it's depressing. Jenny and I are talking about a ski trip just up to the Poconos for a reaquaintance this winter, if you are up to it. Some friends from work may join us. I haven't been in over 10 years, and need some bunny slopes to practice on before heading up to Vermont. :)

Greg, I'd be up for some Pocono's. Let me know. Pam won't be doing any skiing, but I'm sure she'd love to come along and just hang out in the lodge drinking hot chocolate.

A cold front is moving through tommorow. They say its going to be in the high 30's low 40's. Its tough living in the south.

Karen you don't like the cold...You got to love getting that cold wind up under your tail......

Spoken like someone who works in a nice temperature-controlled office. Spend a week in my world Grasshoppah, then we'll talk.

Tom, even the horses were too cold to buck tonight when the cold got under THEIR tails. Criminy, it was a test tonight....

Karen

I always loved the first cold week of winter. It was a three step plan on THEIR part 1 squeel 2 buck 3 bolt aahhh the good old days. You could always pick out someone enjoying their first winter on horseback. They would wear a synthetic windbreaker, the wind would catch em that thing would blow up like a balloon and start to make all storts of noise. Translated to horse means run really really really fast dont stop till noise stops. Lessons at night wow thats a new one on me. You do have an indoor right. Either way damm thats got to be cold

Karen, I work in an office that every one says is cold. I haven't even worn a jacket yet and yes, I spend at least few hours every night out side and durring the day as well.

Of course I have a layer of fat to keep me warm like a sea lion. :)

Zak Ruck (Zak)
Posted on Wednesday, December 04, 2002 - 10:22 am:   Edit Post Delete Post Print Post

Fat does amazing things. I was outside last night around 9:00pm trying to put on my Hilift Mounts. It was about 20 degrees out, and didn't have a jacket on and was not cold except for my hands. Amazing how a large chunch of metal can be do damn cold.

Not yet. I was out there for a while trynig to mount the jack to the rear of the adventure rack, but the base plate kept getting in the way. I was trying to put it there to make it easier for my wife to get it down if she ever had to use it and i wasn't around. My hands got to cold and I stopped for the night. I'll try putting in on a different spot today. Thanks again Greg, and sorry I missed you last night.

Karen, I feel your pain. I used to go ride in the winter and then stop by the tanning bed on the way home to warm up!!! It's a great method actually.

It's currently 25 degrees here and we are supposed to get 6inches of snow. I HOPE SO...I want to play with my dog and Rover! I got them both in the spring and this is our first winter together. Of course, I will have to watch out for all the other idiots in town who have SUVs now and think they can drive in inclement weather!!!

Tom,

Oh, that puffed-up windbreaker visual is hilarious! Too true! Old race hosses like anything that reminds them of racing silks, or anything else from the track. How's that reschooling project of yours coming along?

Yes, we have an indoor arena. It wasn't as cold tonight, but the weather "event" is moving in on us. Road conditions might cancel tomorrow's lessons.

Sus, damn, that riding/tanning bed routine is inspired! Maybe I need an in-home bed....wonder if I could write it off? LOL! Did you ever decide where you and Ivan might honeymoon? Enquiring snokelers want to know!

gp, and pervs: Always good to read your sick selves. Evan, you have truly grossed me out tonight, LOL!

Hey John M. I feel for you moving from Great Bridge to Albany. Your suppose to go from the North to the South, not the other way around. Actually, we would have been neighbors, I live just on the other side of the locks on Battlefield Blvd. Did you know that they are building new locks to replace the pre-war one???

Oh and the weather here sucks. People were spasing out because they thought we were going to snow last night. But once again it is nothing but rain and cold!!

KJ,
Yeah , best way I ever found to pick up chicks is to flash'em the old gray sweater !

Headed to Spruce Cabin this afternoon with the Volvo . As it sits in the driveway the snow is up to the front air dam . I was trying to be a nice guy by leaving Rover at camp . Ought to be an interesting evening .

KJ

Evan, what model Volvo are you driving? My old 240 in the snow a couple of winters ago was the reason I finally broke down and got the Rover. Well, it was the proverbial straw at least. Do you have a Crosscountry? I'm way behind in knowing the Volvo line, but our old 240 is still going strong, just not in the snow. I was driving the Disco tonight in the falling snow, and it was a dream drive.

I can't believe I'm talking to you so calmly, you scare me, LOL!

That was from the first thing in the morning. We ended up getting about 3 times as much snow as is here. I shoveled that damn driveway 3 times. :)

Lots of fun in the Rover. Had the day off work, so I drove around playing and helping stuck people. The Good Year MTR's performed flawlessly. I wasn't sure what to expect regarding snow performance with them, but I would now say I'm impressed with their traction in the snow.

YEAH SNOW!!!! :)

We got about 6 inches and I spent my day off yesterday helping people! I took a colleague to the doctor b/c she has bronchitis and about twenty minutes ago I had to rescue my boss and her daughter and bring them to work!!

I thought I couldn't love the Rover any more...until now!
I saw more LRs out yesterday than I've ever seen in this town. Even saw a beautiful RRC dropping someone off this morning that I've never seen before (car).

yeah my brother has an E320 4matic that works great in the snow, but his partner has the same car with rear wheel drive. worthless. could not go over 10 mph on 5-10% grades. haha. i was laughing. even some dumbass today with the roads with very minimal snow was able to spin out and block both lanes of traffic this morning. she was getting no help from me. if it was legit (ie. lots of snow) i would have. not in this case. :) we have about 8 or so here. me like.

I've had lots of fun in the snow...I'm so glad I bought this car!

Tom,

All around there. I have been living for the last year in Conshohocken. I'm currently in the process of moving to the house in the pictures above which is on the Main Line out in Malvern near the General Warren Inn. And I work in Bala Cynwyd, so I drive through Gladwyne when commuting from Conshohocken.
