I will be in Denver this weekend and I need something to do during the day on Friday. The rest of the weekend will be spent skiing, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

John

wynkoop is cool. dig that place lots. go there for sure. almost as much as diamond caberet. good food at both places. waitstaff is 'nicer' at diamond caberet though. LOL. :)

LOL, I'll concur....

The food at Wynkoop is excellent.... make sure you look at the resturant section, it's as good as their home-brews....

Pint's is distinctly British, BTW..... :)

Denver's a farmtown. There's nothing to do. Stay in and watch TV.

What kind of stuff do you like to do?

Wynkoop is definitely a good bet for microbrew and pool. Play golf? You can get in a good 9 holes at City Park (nice view of downtown and the mountians beyond. I haven't been, but there is an ESPNzone on the 16th street mall that I bet you could waste a good deal of time at. Lunch on the mall can be entertaining with thousands of people out at lunch.

Its a little more mainstream, but Breckenridge Brewery on Blake makes some good brew.

Follow that up with a stop at Shotgun Willy's on Colorado Blvd. and you topped out encountering all of the local culture.

Bear hunting and blind indian fellowship is out, Wyncoop is cool, and lodo is interesting. Maybe I will just go for a drive in the MTs. If anyone else is interested, there is a great band playing in lodo on Saturday night - Carolyns Mother.

Thanks for the suggestions, at least some of them.

How about a nice day hike? There are some nice areas to hike in the foothills, not too far from town. Great scenery, fresh air, no snow.

Denver is just another big city with all the same big city things to do as the next big city. The mountains are why we moved here. Get out!

Walk from downtown Denver to Red Rocks. If you are a relatively flat-lander like us in VA take some oxygen. Actually when I was there, I climbed around the amphitheater with no breathlessness. If the weather is clear the views are excellent from Red Rocks. Then, if you're a Moody Blues fan and have their "... at Red Rocks" video you'll know how special that place is !
Also... drive over the "pass" if you have the time. Also.. if your not accustomed to the dry air of Denver, drink lots of water (and beer) and use lots of skin lotion.

Red Rocks Ampitheatre is closed for renovation; however, you can enjoy some of the views from the red rock formations around the ampitheatre. Also, Red Rocks is not walking distance from downtown.

kinda like saying the airport is walking distance. maybe hitchhiking. :)

blue i thought the food was half decent at the caberet. i mean for a strip joint!!! but then again the majestic views there could only have helped the taste buds develope a little more.

:)

Yeah, it is a long walk ... especially if you go by way of Golden. Is Golden the place that started the term "Golden shower" ?
If you do go through Golden, stop by the Coors bottle making plant. Its been many many years since I was there so it may be closed for renov's.
Happy St Patty's weekend !

Anything within 20 miles is somewhere near Golden, right? They should show pictures of all the prisons instead.

yeah.....meant to say "near". and i have seen the 'stream' they use for their facility. if that's a true 'rocky mountain' stream, then mr. coors better start drinking something else.

How was the skiing? I could not make it up this weekend but I heard it was great. Where did you go?

We went up to Copper. It was snowing most of the time and they just had a bunch of snow the night before, the light was really flat, but there were no crowds, despite being 'spring break'.

I wish I had known you were going to Copper, I had a few extra tickes that I could have hooked you up with.

Oh well, what did you think of Copper?
