Yeah, they're pretty neat. There's a guy in Big Bear that runs an auto repair shop that owns 5 or so of them in great shape. Sometimes you drive by his shop and I've seen 7 of them sitting there! Most of them painted NATO OD. A couple of them have swiss military markings. Those little portal axles are pretty impressive.

Thanks Muskyman. I'll keep and eye out for it on eBay. It should surface sooner or later.

How about getting her this:

http://www.clarke.ca/BMW4Sale.html (warning: shameless classified whoring)

I got that for my wife and I think it helped guilt her into letting me get my Discovery a few months later ;-) Now she half wants to sell the BMW (would rather have the $$).

Haha! Well, I didn't even test-drive the M-Coupe. I knew that if I did I'd have to have it. They had one in the showroom but I just couldn't justify the $6000 more. At 6'3+ I don't really fit in the car so from that point of view I wasn't all that excited about buying either one anyways.

You just lost the sale Andrew! And here I was getting all the cash ready to take it off your hands. At 6'4" I just can't buy a car I don't fit in, even if it is for her. Oh, well...

Well, initially I'd reserved veto power over any car I couldn't fit in. However, my wife wanted this car so much that I finally caved. It REALLY bummed me out when it occurred to me after the fact that I don't fit in it with a helmet at all. So no track time / autocrossing for me :-(

If you actually ARE looking for a car, Todd, check out a Porsche 911 (haven't tried a 993/996). They're pretty roomy for a sports car. My friend just bought a Boxster S and it's as tight as our BMW.

No need for a car. I recently sold my fully built '68 BMW track car to get this.

kart

It'll crush most any car at the local auto-x (and many on the track) and is a hell of a lot cheaper to buy and maintain.

Headroom isn't an issue either

Todd, when she comes home have a nice hot bubble bath ready for her followed by giving her a nice relaxing massage. You'll get what ever you want after that.

Hey Todd. That's pretty cool. I now remember it from a previous post too. Sounds crazy!
