Every night when I walk in the door from work my son (2 years old) runs up to me to ask me if I want to "Play Cars". It's a ritual that he loves and I enjoy spending the time with him. It's the same routine every time. He runs up stairs and wait for me with a Hot Wheels Land Rover D2 in one hand and a Jeep Wrangler in the other. Incidentally I always end up with the Jeep, he likes to play with "Daddy's Grover" (although mine is a D1).

Well tonight I'm sitting there on the floor with him looking at the Jeep thinking, "You know... this think would have a much better departure angle on it if I were to cut off the little plastic trailer hitch that sticks out."

I think I need help...

Todd

Todd,

A teenie, tiny Dremel would probably get that job done.....

Todd,
Speaking as a Jeep owner who stupidly didn't take his hitch off once doing some easy 4xing and wacked it pretty good....get the Dremel.

Whatever you do, at age 2....DON'T let your son see you get it out and use it. You'll come home one day to your son running a very profitable chop shop with the neighbors' kid's cars, selling parts back to Hot Wheels™.

LOL...ya Todd, I'd say you need help. But I find myself doing that in traffic...looking at other trucks thinking of ways you could improve them. :) BTW, if you still have your D1 when your kid is old enough to drive, guess who's inheriting it, whether you want to or not.

Peter, that'd be hilarious. See kids dropping off "miscellaneous" dinky cars at the back door for $0.10 a piece while Todd's kid is making like $1.50 on parts. Open up the mailbox and there are all these order forms for lift kits and stuff for some Rover dinky cars.

Todd-
You are not alone. Yesteday I was home with my 3 year old daughter (double ear infection!) and we were playing with clay at the kitchen table. We made a very nice S-IIA with a roof rack, a spare on top, a winch and what looked like green XCL's. I believe this behavior is actually quite common in the Rover community. However it's kept quiet, like the crazy aunt in the basement.

I wish I didn't have a crazy aunt...

Todd... I'd say nurture it... when your son hits three, this is what he'd be doing...

We have baby #1 arriving in early Feb. I know I need to wait at least one year before hitting the trails with Baby-T, but I'm already starting to look around for a plush Disco toy (do they make these?) and an infant size "Future Rover Owner" t-shirt. I'm also thinking of putting Discoweb and "LR Special-Vehicles" stickers on the stroller. :)

Hey! I do that too! I've got a Matchbox Disco and a Freelander sitting on my computer docking station here at work...and when I'm on the phone with someone...I practice off-roading the keyboard to see which one drags more!!
Now, I also have a Ferrari 456GT, and sometimes they race!

Oh god...I'm losing it too!

Lawrence - Congrats! I have #2 due in March. I believe Atlantic British has toddler shirts. On a side note, my son has a Discoweb sticker on his tricycle.

Now you really have me thinking Peter. If I go pick up another D2 I can use the dremel to create a pick-up cab, decrease the rear overhang, shorten the wheel base, hmmm... do you think Kyle would make a mini bumper for the front?

Well, actually, work has been coming down on internet use, so I tried to keep away from here during the day. But, my computer at home is having modem issues, so, I'm sneaking in here at work, kinda quick-like....

Really, a bunch of people in another agency got fired, but, they WERE hitting porn sites though.... it'd be funny, if they logged and checked, they'd think I go Disco dancing or something.... lol....
