well now I have seen it all nissan has a new car called the Murano. it appears to be SUV meets 300z. they ads are based around it being a vehicle built to explor the backroads of wine country? it even has special compartments just for that reason.

the one thing I do give them credit for is there Motto " its the perfect vehicle for your on road adventures"

at 245hp and limited slip center diff I'll bet its a fun vehicle on gravel roads.

Looks like it will be a nice vehicle. In my experience, Nissan's are solid vehicles with nice features at a more reasonable price than Honda.

I drove a Nissan Pathfinder for years (one of the older ones, still built on a real truck frame) and it was solid. The Nissan V6 is a nice engine, though a little underpowered (especially when in 4WD).

My parents have had 3 or 4 Maximas, and I don't expect they will buy anything else.

If I were looking for an on-road SUV (which I'm not but a lot of people are) then I would give serious consideration to the Murano.

I saw my first one on the street the other day. It didn't occur to me that they were out yet, so my first thought was "wow, that Buick Rendezvous looks MUCH MUCH better than I remember it looking - almost like the new Nissan Murano! Oh, it IS a Nissan Murano."

Or something like that...

The quality/desirability differential in any vehicle category is much greater between the Murano and the Rendezvous than between the Rendezvous and the Aztec. Duh.

And although the Murano doesn't come with a manual transmission, it does come at least with a CVT (with optional 7 pre-programmed "speeds"). Hey, at least it's not an automatic... :-/
