Are there any companies out there that sell custom parts for D1?

I like the looks of the new projector head lamps on the '03 D2 and want to know if there are any custom shops that make them to fit the D1. The size and the mounts are different between the D1 and D2 so it would have to be a custom mold. There's places that make them for other cars and trucks but I haven't heard of any that make Rover parts (not certified LR parts - oh no!).

Any ideas?

I'm not aware of _any_ interchangeability between the DI and DII, sorry.

The rear door is the same. But that's it on the outside.

Corey,

I've read on the BBS about upgrading the D1 headlights to the D2 headlights. You probably should do a search to see what comes up. A few people have done this, and I think they did a full detail on what they did.

I also *think* that the 2003 headlight assembly is the same as the 1999-2002 headlight assembly in the earlier D2s.

Hope this helps.

Max T.
Begin the great search!

Oooooo, goodie. Guess I'll be dropping by my dealership on Monday. :) Those pop out ones are annoying. They cover up the climate controls and are tiny.

LOL...you're walking a fine line with the D2 guys there, Roverhood!

Thanks Carter. I'll look into them but the problem I'm running into is after exchange and shipping, the item costs quite a bit more than what I pay at the local dealership. As an example (and nothing agains Nathan - it's just an economic reality for me), a load space mat for a D1 through Discount Rovers is $129.95 US. After conversion, it's $203 CDN not including shipping. After shipping is tacked on as well as any broker fees, I'm probably paying close to $300 CDN. The dealership here will sell it to me for $142 CDN. Them's the breaks I guess.

Okay I can't hold it in any longer.....Best way to make a DI look like a DII. Go to the dealership sign over title to DI tell salesmen you want your DI to look like a DII open wallet close eyes and sign on the dotted line....TA DA transformation complete. Sorry sometimes the smartass has to come out.

The simplest way to make a D1 look like a D2 is to put a PLAYSOCCOR bumper sticker on the back of the D1.

Or in Steve's case an ICANTSPELL sticker :)

BTW... Even though I like the new headlamps on the D2 the RR has stepped to a new low. Way to jump on the "clear-tail-light-I-wanna-be-like-Nissan" bandwagon.

Tom,

Only if you're over your VISA limit. If that fails, into your pocket they go, saying, "Open Sesame!"
