What? You want the feds to take a nice new truck away from you because it isn't really legal? That sounds like a sucky Christmas present. :)

I thought the same thing. How do people get something that new into the U.S.? I test drove an older LR 90 RHD last summer that was brought into New England, but should not have been. I came real close to buying it but in the back of my head I could not shake the image of having it taken away from me. It was $8500.00 and worth it.

I've seen that one on ebay before. Wonder what's up. Funny how he has a zero rating.

Some of them get in on an "ambassadors clause" or something like that. An ambassador from another country can bring in 1 vehicle of his choice, without regulation. I guess the idea is that they can bring their personal vehicle from their home country. I know someone with a 2001 TD5 110 that is perfectly legal, with a legit CT title and reg. Theres nothing illegal about it. At least this particluar 110 is legal. Maybe somebody out ther knows more about this ambassador thing that can clarify it better. For all I know its BS, but apparently thats how this guy got his legal 01 110 in the country. Isnt that crewcab 110 near DC?? Maybe thats the story with that one also.

From what I have gathered from all the threads that get started on this the "amabassadors clause" thing was ended a few years ago and yes you can have something with a state title (like your friends 2001 td5) but that doesn't necesarily make it legal. Just because the state says it is legal doesn't neccesarily mean that the national govt. has to agree (think gay marriages).

I thought ambassadors and other foreign dignitaries had special tags and not state tags. Or they use tags from their own country. I have seen NATO, Diplomat and German (and other EU tags) on the streets of Northern VA.
