It truly is a sickness.

I have two Rovers, neither of them run currently, yet I love them both and the Marque.

Just like Rush Limbaugh says, it may be an addiction, but treatment isn't necessary (at least not yet, I still have a job and some $ left to spend on my Rovers).

Peace,
Paul

Well they say I have six that don't run. In reality I have seven, 3 of which don't run :)

Well, I only have one. I even tried trading it in on a Suburban last month to "kick the habit". It did not work. I lasted a mere three days before I was back at the dealer begging for my rig back. There was nothing wrong with the Sub...except that it was not my Rover :)

I'm doomed for life.

Audis kick ass. I traded in my A4 for my DII. Had an old RRC once so I had get back to my roots, this is where the DII has kept my addiction going.

Hello All
I too have an addiction... Rovers are my current problem... One high Accesorized Disco and my 65 109 "restoration" (re-engineering)project. It all stared when i was about 15 and got my first 4X4..... As far as i can tell there is no cure, we just meander through life from one fetish to another... creating piles of spares and vehicles that do not run....

I'm not a Rover-holic. I do not spend to much time figuring out ways to improve performance. I do not spend too much money on accessories. I do not refuse to take my rover to a "steelership" to fix stuff. I do not spend to much time on DWEB . . . . wait a minute . . . is this what they call denial?

My name is Brian

And I spend much time in the garage, I look and somewhat hope for broken things that I can work on. I love the smell of gear oil. I tell my wife that every thing I am doing to the truck if for "safety reasons".

I hide parts.
I take things off that should not be there and are not usefull...Like sway bars, abs fuses, the little round thing metle disc thingy, steering dampner, bumper end caps.
I try to drive up and over things that should not be driven over.
It doesn't bother me when I scratch or dent things.
I hate to spend money on things like brake pads, and water pumps
I love to spend money on stuff like ropes and lockers.
My exahst has a crack in the manifold and I think it sounds cool and my reasonator is held up with bailing wire.
I say things like, "it only costs ____"
I'm always thinking that I will stop after this last modification. Then I think, well maybe just one more.

Can I join the group?

Also,

I keep thinking about how nice it will be when my 2 year old moves out of the house so I can bobtail the disco.

Hi Everyone

My name is Peter and I am a Rover-holic too. Own two LR (Disco 98 & 01). I am trying to convince my family we need another, maybe a defender and/or a RR.

My family tells me am sick and need help. My wife has threaten to divorce me if I make her visit another LR dealer.

Help.

Patagonian Toothfish...

Funny name for a crazed Irishman with some curious obsessions...

Welcome to Dweb and good luck with the dentist.

I'm a roverhaulic too.

Who else has had their wives threaten to beat them if they don't stop talking about Rovers?

She thought it would stop if she just let me buy the Disco, but it only got worse... much worse.

She does really like the ride and driving position though, so I said she should get one for her next vehicle, but she said it would probably be a waste if it wasn't taken off-road. I've trained her well, huh? Next I just have to convince her that she wants one so she can take it off road, so it's not wasted driving around town... ;-)

Good afternoon all (well, it is where I am!).

I have to admit that I've been following this conversation and finally had to say my piece.

It seems we are all of the same breed; slightly mad(?), certified oiloholics, fixated and somewhat removed from what is deemed 'polite society'!!

You are not alone my brethren, there seems to be more and more of us each time I look out on to the road - even here in Nigeria where once you could only see white T****A (swear word!) Landcruisers you now see magnificent vehicles with LANDROVER slapped on the back - ahh, there is a God!

By the way, the name's Terry and I wish you all a very Happy New Year.
