People don't pull out in front of me anymore. Big Brush guard. Even though I am slow they don't tailgate because my beake lights don't work and my signal lights not to mention I throw out a lot of exhaust.

Now I know what driving gloves are for, well at least not yet since my hands still stick to the cold steering wheel.

It really takes effort to drive it and finally I am not limited to driving on the road. I can go over curbs and other obstacles that make getting around the mall parking lot difficult.

OH and my wife has never ever once asked to drive it.

Thomas ,
Best part is when the steering wheel gets wet . The dehydrated sheep shit there're cast from melts and gets all over you . I still love my series .I've even slept with it a time or two. It's outlasted many other trucks , girlfriends , and the exwife ( who refered to it as "that thing" ) . Best of all it is a better offroad vehicle than a Disco.

This should be entertaining ,
Happy Holidays one and all!

Well Big Daddy, after seeing that lightweight at MAR go through that little bog that every other disco got stuck in.....I'm a believer. :)

Yes , that bog was interesting. Saturday night the line was 10-20 trucks long to attempt .After it was churned up by the bigger trucks even the series trucks where pulling out at the bottem and doing K-turns to get a better line out. My 8yr old son and I made it through easily after watching the others find the soft stuff . We stopped on the other side and he said to me ,"how come they couldn't do that daddy ?" He asked me the other day if he could trade the series for a real truck when he's sixteen . I asked him what he thought a real truck was and he said , "a 101 like Dave's"..
LOL

Early in Sept. I was on the SC side of the Savanahh river north of August Georgia. It rained, lots of rain. Our buddy in his nice F-150 could not cope with the mud. 109 walks through.

Dec. 14, Uhwarrie National forest. My series 3 109 is going down a steep hill. Two ATVs come up to play chicken. I honk, they do not get out of the way. All of a sudden it becomes painfully obvious that the 109 has an ARB ATV bar attached to the front. ATVs yield and live to die another day.

Dec. 16, arrive at destination at 7:30 in the morning. Truck is muddy and no top. Got cold but was worth it :).

About everyday there is some little kid riding in the back of a burb' with his jaw to the ground and with wide eyes.

I love this truck :)

How about some pics guys? Man I love the old stuff. I've only had my Disco about 6 months but this voice it my head keeps telling me to sell it and buy a commuter and a Series instead. I used to have a stock '53 M38A1 Jeep that I miss. It really pissed of the local guys when it came to off-road.

I'd listen to it but the other voice in my head says it'd be easier to keep the Disco than to find a new wife. I think the Disco is vehicle # 14 for me (I have an addiciton).

Very nice, Will, can't help but smile...looks like parabolics?

Jaime,
Not to leave you out...that baby looks clean. I like that roof/rack option, saw one up close recently...

Thx Michael. it does get dirty from moderate trails, recently just came back from a CO. trip, and is a blast to drive albeit the electric fan is noisy at a stop. it does get hot inside so it has turned out to be a cool weather LR.

Will-
You have the ideal Series truck in my opinion, very nice rig. Your grill looks a bit different though. Is it a new grill or something special? Looks too nice to cook on.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!

Michael, nope, those arent parabolics, all stock suspension. I want to get some parabolics from TI Console over in the UK and some OME shocks soon.

That Grille is from Wise Owl. It is galvanized, and of very high quality. I like it a lot, and think it makes the truck "stand out" from other series trucks...

Once again...thanks for all the compliments...

I've almost bought a '62 109, five years ago. Took it out for a "spin" - figured out I can live with it being slow. but next thing i saw was the stop sign at some major intersection.

it rolled about five feet into the large street, and i swear, i couldn't push any harder without breaking the seat.

i came back (thinking i could do something about the brakes when i get at it)... and the the guy asked me TEN GRAND.

a week later i bought a $1500 jeep and been happy with it ever since.. took me another two years to get a Disco, and two more - to get a Rangie. And the Rangie came in by a chance - i wanted to buy this 88, but Paul returned my call one week too late.

Will: the pickup looks great! I have the TIC parabolics on my 88": they work great. You can find them at Great Basin Rovers in Utah and I just saw them this week at TLC in Van Nuys, CA: they are trying the TIC line of parabolics out on their restoration of Toyota Land Cruisers, had a whole crate full of springs: can't miss that blue color.
I am now trying to get Paul at TI to make the disk brake kit for my truck: hope it gets here soon, I am looking forward to having disk brakes on the truck.

Blueboy, what wheels are on your 109 (part number maybe)? I need wheels for the 110 that will fit inside series fenders.

In hind sight the biggest joy for me about my series(before I started to resto it) time didn't matter. You got there when you got there late, on time, early, screw it didn't matter. Yes I do tend to obsess about time. That and knowing you can go anywhere and I mean anywhere in a series. The times I got stuck can very easily be put on driver error. Lastly the handiest joy, learning to fix stuff. Pre series I could change oil, plugs, install a stereo, Now, I do a significant amount of the work on our cars.
