Somebody sent that to me last week but I could never get it to open. That's some bad shit. They didn't stand a chance. Not that that's a bad thing.

Any one know why I can only watch about 5 seconds of the video and then it stops. At the bottom left of the screen it says 'buffering', goes to about 50%-60% them plays another 5-7 seconds. What's up?

Regular phone line. I guess it would be faster if I had a cable or DSL?

Matt, if you right click the link and 'save target as' you can play it back locally at full speed. Might take a few minutes to downlaod with a dialup, it's a 5.51mb file.

It's a really big file (5,652kb), you probably should save it to disk and then run it locally if you don't have a speedy connection.

That had my heart racing a bit!

What's up with that guy in the background, screaming with joy randomly throughout?

Dean, I am in the military and have been on those videos and seen plenty of them. Those guys have saved my ass more than once. All the radio traffic is the talk between the gunner, radio man and control. The AC gunners do not have the 007 license to kill, they have to get permission from higher. The smaller explsions are 40mm rounds and the larger are 120mm (I think). The reason they all run is because the AC make a very destictive sound because it flies so low. They can hear it circle above
If you guys like that video try to find one from a Predator unmanned drone. The quality is much better. You can actually see the guys running like the dogs they are, not just little white blobs.

Hey jim , all the guys that i know that have been in those videos would never say they have, or even say "thats not my real name",publicly, real operators.
I think it is 105mm, 120mm is a tank gun, that is a howitzer . there is also chain guns and the like as well.
video quality is limited to the range they are from the tgts and tht it is a FLIR/and or all weather camera.
for quick action watch it from military.com.

No, I belive you are right. When I was in the Norwegian Army, I was stationed on a coastal artilllery fort up north. It is standard procedure for the gunners to yell out the status of the gun so that the commander know when it is ready to fire.

"Jim" and Grant are both kind of right. Ac-130's have many different rounds they are able to fire but they are either 120mm which is a single, large explosion or 105mm which is multiple, smaller rounds. The 105mm are linked but AC does not have the weaponry to fire "chain guns" in the sence of a gattling or something.
"Jim" is correct about the altitude thing and being able to here the aircraft.
I do not know the exact camera type but is is more of an IR. AC can not get video in poor weather so it is not an all-weather cam, probably a type of FLIR is correct.
Axel is also corect. There is a lot of crosstalk between the gunner, radioman and ground units (control). It is similar to how mortars work with a forward observer.
