My cruise control just stopped working the other day. When I turn on the master switch and then hit "set" nothing happens. My "resume" button has never worked. Do you think this is a bad switch or something deeper like the vac or something?

Vaccum line is usually the culprit. I've replaced lines on both my '96 D1 (unit is behind the driverside headlamp), and on my wife's '99 D2. Check the hoses for cracks/etc. I ended up ruining my vac. pump by ingesting too much mud and water. My cruise has worked like a charm since then. As far was resume goes, you have to hold the button in for a couple of seconds on mine for it to kick in. Oh well.. Good luck.. Rob

Check the usual suspects first, vacuum lines, brake switch etc. If you don't have any luck with the easy stuff, check this link out. I found this info out about my 98 D1, so it should be similar if not the same. If you need it, email me and I'll email you the picture that's missing from the text. Good luck,

Kit

Check everything else first: hoses, vac pump, t-fittings, brake switch. Then, go ahead and install your new ECU and everything will be fixed.

My experience (97 Disco) vacuum pump in front left headligh housing sucks dirt and moisutre into it cauing blockage and corrosion of the pathetic littile relay inside the pump body. Gave it a bath of CRC56 or WD40 and flushed out heaps of crap. If you don't place a wade blanket (or something similar) over your front grill when you enter creeks or mud this will be the cause of your problem, and likely to also cause you cooling fans to sieze in time too. You might like to alo test the fans can be easily spun using a small screw driver to flick the fan blades. Disco and Mud on the front don't mix too well!
