Found it, cool. I'll have to surprise my wife after work and take her there. She lived just around the corner from one in Virginia Beach, and she'll be very excited when she finds out there is on up here now!!

I'm having a Krispy Kreme donut as I read this. Don't know where it came from but there was a box of them in our break room this morning.

Yeah, but they are 1000 times better when they are fresh. We stopped by the one on Cottman ave. after we left work tonight. Bought a ton of them. I feel quite sick now though.

Next time any of you drive to or through Kansas City, try Lamar's Donuts. Very good!

Not to open a can of worms here, but I've lived in both NC and KS - there is no comparison between Krispy Kreme and Lamar's. KK's right off the line are the best. Lamar's are very "cake like" and always iced with something, or filled with some type of goo.
And, what they call barbecue in KS is way different than NC, and again, I don't think there is any comparison - Eastern or Western style BBQ from North Carolina just rocks!

Damn Jack, dismissing us here in KC quite easily. I will give you the donuts; Lamar's and KK are two totally different tastes. But man... what BBQ have you had here in KC? Someone taken you to the right places? We just had a friend in town from North Carolina over break... and I think we made a substantial impression on her. Which places have you been?

Re: KC BBQ – I’ve eaten at Jack Stack’s, Gates, etc., but my favorite in KC was Oklahoma Joe’s, which from what I remember operated in a gas station/c-store (very cool, and good food). Anything being cooked outside of Arrowhead (pre-game) is good. I was raised on NC pork bbq, and once I ventured out into the world, I realized that outside of VA/NC/SC BBQ was beef, not pork. Kind of like the donut comparison both are good, just different. Any suggestions for other good KC or NC BBQ?

For NC BBQ there is a local chain of 3 or 4 restaurants around Winston Salem called "Little Richards"....There BBQ is definately pork, and some of the best I have ever had.

there is this little place in McLean, VA that I like called Boss Hogs. Not bad BBQ compared to the rest of the places in this area.. Pork, beef, and chicken. I also like Red Hot and Blue but, they are more of a chain place. Boss Hogs is a little place owned by a couple of women from the south.

I drive by the Krispy Kreme store on RT1 in Alexandria some times and if it's nice out and the windows are down you can just smell the donuts from almost 400 yards away. By the time you get near the place you have to stop and get some.

Wills got it right w/ that "Hot and Now" sign, all others need not apply. Used to eat those damn things everyday last summer, boy I gained a lot of weight.

The new Krispy Kreme in Philly was giving everyone in line free donuts while they wait to order. Right off the conveyer belt. Damn those are good. Melt in your mouth. We walked out of there with a few dozen. A nice glazed donut and a glass of milk, doesn't get much better than that!!!!

Jack - Okie Joes is great, eat there very often, as they are not too far from my home.

Gotta have Arthur Bryants down in the hood. Not only is it an experience but damn good BBQ. A large percentage of our Presidents have eaten there.

All - shoot me an e-mail anytime your headed in the direction of KC and we will go have some good BBQ, and Lamars/KK donuts afterwards.

Clif,
I'm in a town with no decent BBQ - beef, pork or otherwise or Donuts (except Safeway). If I ever head back thru KC, I'll let you know. There is a KK in Denver, but that's 70 miles away. When it opened, there was a line around the building for weeks...cops directing traffic, etc. People were standing in the cold and rain for hours to buy them. Krispy Kreme couldn't have paid for better grand opening advertising. I'll be back in NC and VA this spring and will gain a few pounds for sure.

Krispy Kreme is very good. They always have donuts there and ready. Unlike Dunkin Donuts, they also get your order right.

I used to love County BBQ on Wendover, not sure if it's still there. Libby Hill and Stamey's are great too. My all time favorite Greensboro late night eatery is Jan's House, especially at 3:00am.
