I know that Area 110 is some where in Va. From the trail and view it looks like out west of Harrisonburg?
THanks

James... the only place I've ever seen it called area 110 is here. But yes... that's GWNF just outside Harrisonburg and from the video and photos here it looks like Dictum Ridge.

James:
Yes, Al's got it. If you go out 33 just past second mountain road, there's a park on the left and a forked driveway on the right. Take a right into the driveway and the trail goes immediately left up the hill and is open. I talked to the people that live there before we went up that weekend we met you guys and they were totally cool about people going up the trail. Two turns up you'll hit the rock obstacle. Be careful if you use the go-around going up, the tree is tight. It's easier to stack a few rocks.

Hey, you wanna go Sunday?

Mike,

Whats the name of the trail we did in July, when we followed "Dusty" in that beat up Jeep?

James; What's up?
Were you at MAR this year and with your g/f? Can't remember her name. We camped on the island and hit the trails with Al Hang.

Hmmm. I'm not sure what that's called, but we ended up going the opposite way out a couple of months ago, fairly tame, once you get down toward the bottom. Seems like if you get up to the clearing past FR82 and go on through the clearing and keep going and going, you end up coming out where Dusty and Earl took us in that time. Seems like it comes out down there way south of Ottobine on the East side of the ridge.

BTW, I did a little aerial reconnaissance over that way yesterday. There are miles and miles of trails you can see now that the leaves are gone, I just have no clue how to get to them. I think quite a bit is private over that way.

Mike,
I might (98% sure) be up for hitting the trails on Sunday. Koren is finally getting her truck back in a day or two. The entire transmission had to be rebuilt. I wouldn't mind hitting Dictum since I haven't yet. We've been going every week to that area and found a nice little trail. I'll show you on the map. Was it your truck I saw about two weeks ago on a flat bed going towards richmond?

p.s. K. March, yeah...I remember. You had the stock Green Disco right? You should come hit the trails with us sometime or meet us at Wintergreen.

I'm going to try and make it down that way on 1/25 or 1/26 if anyone is interested in meeting up. I may have some other people with me in Jeeps and other vehicles but they can handle what's there at GWNF. It would be nice to have other Land Rovers around. :)

James,
I think we parked/camped next to you at MAR. I have a stock, gold DI and I live in Lynchburg. Had my fiance with me.

We hope to get some people together to head to GWNF sometime this month...and my fiance and I will be up around Wintergreen doing some skiing/boarding soon!

Let me know if you all would be be up for some exploring!

Cool. Sus, I think you were next to me and Koren. I had the beat up 95 disco (green/snorkle). I don't know how, but with 176,000 miles, my truck is running like a tank. Last weekend I hit a tree at about 25mph with my ARB bar and the truck slid and only took off a side mirror. I am up for any weekend...just let me know. 100% this Sunday Mike. I also have an extra Fiberglass Fj-40 on 33/10.5/15 BFG KM tires if anyone needs a ride. I go every weekend so just let me know.

James:
Yeah, that was my rig. Just got it back yesterday after getting a new MAF. Of course, the AT is now working normally (no codes yet or shifting problems like before), but I'm sure it's done and will be going back soon, although I'd like it to start acting up again before taking it in.

So, Sunday it is then...let's make this official: GWNF Sun Jan. 5

James;

I'll shoot you an e-mail next week. We'll have to exchange phone numbers, and I'll come up and board with you guys.

Take it easy this weekend on the trails.

Okay... now I'm REALLY upset I couldn't go today (5th). I'm sitting here looking out the window watching snow fall and I have a feeling that I haven't had since I was a kid and looked out the window at other kids playing in the snow while I was grounded. :(

I hope you're all having fun.

I felt the same AL! We will all have to head up there at the end of the month (plus, I'll be better off financially then as well!). I know there are a few folks from Roanoke that would like to go, two here in the 'burg, and a few in C'ville...not to mention others!

Have a great day! (Snow is melting here now. :()

How much snow was out there?! I wish I could have gone wheelin!! Maybe later this month :)

I was in the NoVA/DC area this morning, and it was a mess!! I got in a minor acciedent (my one and only accident)--escaped with only a cracked wheel and a scratched rear bumper, but it's scary when people are flying down a street covered in snow at like 60mph.

I was out on the roads in the afternoon. I offered to drive people to or from work. We are a 24/7 operation so we had people who drove in the night before or early in the morning that couldn't get home. One person took up the offer since his Mustang didn't do well getting out of the lot. Another person in a Cobra fliped her car.

Glad it was only a minor accident and you and your mom didn't get hurt. Where did you end up taking your mom?

Wow, is it still snowing up that way?

Well I ended up getting really lost looking for Ruth Chris... so we ended up going to Cashion's, which is like right in DC. (my cousin used to be a chef there)

Yeah just the sound of another car hitting me (a honda civic, that poor guy's whole bumper fell off!), and my rim going crunch spooked me quite well. I was afraid of my tire exploding or something on my way back... & I couldn't put my spare on, b/c I had just noticed it wasn't full sized, and I really didn't want to mess up my differential! Thank god it was only me though... My mom was only in town for like 8 hours before she left for London (just a really long layover).

A couple pictures Al but, nothing special. Didn't really use the camera that much. We got about 4 inches at my house. They say we are going to get another inch tomorrow.. I would rather hear that a huge blizzard is coming to dump 24 inches on us.. I guess I got to move farther north for that.. :)

Eric,

"... Snow runs are always fun."

I think you guys' type of 'snow run' would scare the *snot* out of me (which might be a good thing right now ) I have to admit, I've never driven through any *real amount* of snow or ice offroad up the western mountains here. So many rocks and stuff, guess it would have to be pretty packed to make it easier? ... I don't even know how :(
