This on a '95 DI -- Just noticed the instrument illumination lights are out and the red SRS warning light stays on and kind of pulsates. I checked both SRS fuses under the steering wheel and both looked fine. Anyone know the fix for this? Thanks, Norm Wouldn't you know, in Lucas' devine wisdom, not only does the SRS have a brain fart, but they figured out a way to simultaneously knock out the instrument illumination so you can't see how fast you're going at night. |

I had a similar fault on Seris 2Disco - was fuse for brake lights and I think a couple of other similar circuits |

Well, the right rear brake light bulb was out, which I fixed (not such an easy chore in and of itself), but that didn't solve the SRS or the dash illumination problem. According to the Owners Manual, when the SRS light stays on, you're immediately supposed rush your truck over to the nearest LR (St)dealership for $$$ repairs. (I take it "" is now a taboo word on this board). Gosh, wouldn't you just love to take the entire Lucas/LR electrical engineering staff out, line 'em up against a wall and blow each of their left knee caps off with a .308 round from an L1A1? ---Norm |

Norm, I had a similar problem recently. My illumination kept going out as a result of the fuse blowing (from what I did not know). The other interior lights worked but the dome light actually strobed. When the illumination went out it took out the entire right outside running lights. After several months of replacing fuses the illumination went off one night and took with it ALL the rear and front running lights and left me with only headlights. Trevor Griffiths was good enough to help me get a temporary hardwire to the illumination circuit. What I discovered (no pun intended) was that the POS switch had partially melted from arcing (and also made the clear harness brown) and caused a significant short to the 20amp fuse in the engine bay. Replaced the switch and fuse and now I'm good to go. The switch is worth checking. |

My right tail light kept blowing too, in turn taking out my dash lights. I tried to replace the bulb (that's a real bitch especially if you have jump seats) and the bulb was fine. The fuse kept blowing, so I spent some time under the truck. It ended up being that a wire to my trailer light hook up was cracked, and would short out when it came close, or touched the body of the disco. I cut and replaced the damaged wire and never had a problem since. (with that particular light) My SRS light started to come on after I tried to install another stereo. Brendan 95 Disco |

Now, not only is the SRS light on and the instrument illumination is out, but now BOTH tail lights and the front marker lights (ARB winch bumper) have gone out. For some reason, the last "S" on the SRS light seems to pulsate for a while when the truck is first started, and then stops blinking after a while. Does this sound like bad wiring, a bad switch or what? The only cause I can think of for all this was a long rainstorm a few weeks ago that may have permeated the electrical system. Any ideas? Thanks, Norm |
