I have an 89 RRC and need to replace my CV joints. I've noticed that an 89 can have either a suffix a or suffix b joint. How can I tell what is in mine? |

Well, I guess you have to crawl under and see the typo in the top of th casing, almost on the center of the axle assembly... I would do that, rather than "if you have the ABS with 1 wire..." diagnostics, which may be misleading...Land Rover themselves have no idea what they did to the RRC and Disco in the '80s-'90s... |

89 aint got ABS you'll have to take a look at the CV joint itself, should be stamped on there somewhere. sometimes you can go by the vin, but you can't be truly sure till you take a look at it with your own two eyes. rd |

pull it. It just bit me on the rears. I was sure that I had a later axle, and really had early. |

Its stamped on the axle. Its pretty obvious in the front. In the rear you have to know what you are looking for but in the rear it is simply a function of whether or not it has ABS. Front is funky but most (all?) 89s should have B. Ron |

I crawled under my vehicle today and cleaned off the axle and found the serial number stamped on top next to the vent tube. It ended with a B so I'm going to order the suffix B cv joint and hope that's what I have when I take everything apart. Thanks for the help. |
