well i wanted a new daily driver for a while and I gave my honda to my uncle. Unfortunately i have to go thru the trouble of finding parts suppliers, factory manuals, etc.

Al: for Benz try Adsit at www.adsitco.com. A good Dweb-like web site for Benz is Mercedes Shop Forum at www.mercedesshop.com.

Al, there's a very active mailing list that you can subscribe to and it has a wealth of information regarding old MBs. You can find it at mercedes-veterans.com. You can interact with vendors, service people, and dare I say it -- "hard core" enthusiasts that are very helpful. It's kinda like the dweb bulletin boards.

What kind of benz did you get? I have a 73 280C 2dr sedan that is a never ending restoration project. Goodluck!

Jake,

They are fun cars indeed... Well, my 280C is currently stripped of the interior and is awaiting a starter transplant. Between work, 2 boys, wife and the disco (not necessarily in that order ), I barely have time to even look at it. But slowly it's coming back to life.

I bought it summer of 96 and drove it up until 99 when I decided to have it painted. Then I got ambitious and started taking the interior apart. Next thing you know, I had a mortgage payment and a second child. Anyway, you can see it peeking in this link, and this link Talk to you soon!

Cool car! we got our 280 in 2000 and drive it mostly on weekends. It is a driver, not a show car but looks pretty good. I love that big grill!

LOL... Well, Les, I don't know if you talked to David yet, but, that S1 deal didn't go thru. Long story but, all I can say was this holiday season had some unexpected expenses that made it financially difficult for me to get the series truck. Anyway, I will keep trying though. I will own a Series truck someday.... hehehe

I always knew I had a couple of loose nuts somewhere up there.

Drat.... you would have liked it.... I drove it a bit, it's different, being a SI... the pedals coming up through the floor, the size... just a different character... I pulled up at a gas pump, and the gal in the Honda next to me thought it was "the coolest Jeep she had ever seen".... lol... She thought it was even neater when I told her that it was really a Land Rover, and was a 1952 model....

Don't worry, though, there'll be a Series Rover for you when you're ready.... :)

i was pretty impressed with my brothers e320 this past weekend when we got 8"+ of snow. with the 4matic, unplowed roads with that kind of snow were a non issue. very nice indeed.

Darn it Les, did you really have to rub it in? LOL

I hear ya man. It was indeed a great looking truck just from seeing it in the tons of pictures Dave sent me. I was really disappointed but it will not be a smart move for me to still push it and go through with the deal. My wife even thinks it will be a cool truck to drive... - imagine that!. It was really tough to let go of that deal since based on the information I received from David, it's probably the nicest S1 that you can get for the price that he was going to sell it to me. Oh well, like I said to David, things happen for a reason so, I guess it's really not meant for me.

Happy New Year to all!!!

To make you feel better, I'll say that it is spartan in the most Rover way.... definitely NOT a Disco... :)

When the time's right, you'll find the right Series... don't worry, be patient, Padawan....
