Well, I got the car to a garage of a friend of mine, and had help putting the front and rear spacers in with the front shock relocaters. Guess what, no vibrations at all. The car is running as smooth as silk. And another thing, at full extension, the brake lines are just long enough to not need extension/replacement. The car is sitting nice and level now, as well as nice and high, and there is plenty of room in the wheel wells. The one thing that I might need to change in the future are the rear shocks, they are a bit short. Right now I have the standard bilstein's back there and they are extended quite a bit when driving on road, so a longer shock probably is in my future. On another note, while compressing the springs in the front and rear, I noticed that the fronts are much skinnier than the rears, which is probably why the car was sloping forward when they were installed. The one problem that I am experiencing is with my steering though. I have a bit of wander in the steering and the wheel is making a sqeeking noise when i turn it, its rubbing against the top of the piece the has the signals/lights on it. Anyway, the install worked out great so far, and I just wanted to thank everyone on the board for their suport and info...I'll try and post some pics of the rover when i get a chance. Thanks again everyone, Ben |

Ben, the wander in the steering is because the caster (sp?) angle is off because of the lift (spacers). You can keep the rear shocks and make some extensions out of 2inch square tubing. I did this on my 88 RR with 3" Big Blues and now my springs pop out because of the shock travel. John |

How can I fix the steering problem? And just for everyone that doesn't know, I just recently put in 2" spacers front and rear, with the front shock relocater plates to go with my heavy duty OME springs and Bilstein shocks. So I'm at 3.5-4" of lift with no driveshaft/radius arm/brake line extensions on 265/75/r16 bfg mt's with no vibrations at all, but a little steering wander. The car looks GREAT though, nice and high up. plenty of clearance and it sits level!!!Finally, just the way I like it. Ben |

Ben, I fixed the steering problem by installing some caster correcting bushings. Some folks use caster correcting arms (like the ones RTE sells). The bushings are cheaper but they limit your flex and wear out quicker. Probably the best thing to do are the arms but you will definetly get the vibes. How did the spacers level the Rover? Are all the spacers the same size? |

Ive gotten the car up to 75mph and there are no vibes at all!!! It has been 4 days, so hopefully I'm in the clear.........The spacers leveled the rover because the fronts were pushed up an inch extra by the relocation plate, which causes the shock to sit an inch higher than usual, above the spacer and spring retainer plate. Also, the spacers give me some nice clearance in the wheel wells to fling that dirt all over the place. Im gonna let the spacers and shocks/springs settle and wear in a bit to their new locations before i go offroad though. I think im gonna leave the castor arms/bushings as they are right now, unless things get really bad, cause I just added some p/s fluid and its not as bad as before, i gues i was a little low. One more thing though, i need to adjust my headlights to face down more cause of the lift, how do i do that since there only held in by two screws (one on top and one on the side), that need to be tightened completely so that the bulbs dont fall out. As always, any help would be appreciated... Thanks, and if u have any more questions bout the lift, keep em comin... Ben p.s.The bolts that came witht he spacer kit didn't fit, too long, and the rear ones weren't metric...It cost me almost $15 for new ones that were the correct size, should i tell the guy i got the spacer kit from, and ask for some $$$ back??? |

IMHO any company should be happy to be reminded their "kit" is not correct as advertised. You would be doing them a favor. As for the money back on the bolts, see if they offer and if not ask them why not? S- |

Ben, Glad to hear everything is running fine (so far). I'm going to install my 3" HD Rovertym springs tomorrow (and OME shocks), so this is only music to my ears! -bob- |

JUST TO BE SURE LIFT YOUR LIFTED TRUCKS BY THE FRAME UNTIL THE SPRING CAN BE TURNED BUT DOES NOT COME OFF OF IT SEAT , THIS IS WHERE YOU WANT YOUR SHOCK TRAVEL TO END SO THE SPRINGS DO NOT DISLOCATE.ALSO AT THIS POINT YOU WANT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO FULL LOCK LEFT AND RIGHT.THIS IS WHERE YOU RUN INTO BRAKE LINE PROBLEMS. A LOT OF TIMES IT LOOKS LIKE YOUR LINES WILL BE OK UNTIL YOU TURN THE WHEELS. I HAVE A 91 HUNTER I LIFTED 3.5" AND IT NEEDED LONGER BRAKE LINES. BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY. KEEP WHEELING LEON |
