in a vain attempt to get the dealer to fix the alpine window rust, I took the BP half-rack off the Disco (the rack usually carried a hi-lift and a shovel, +CB antenna mounted in the middle).

guess what - 15-15.5 mpg solid, running consistent 75-80 mph on the highway. Before it was 12.5-14 mpg under the same conditions. I couldn't help wondering how come I made it from Bakersfield to San Diego and still have 1/2 of a tank left!

but now i miss greatly this poseur look it had...

Taking the Yakima Load Warrior off of my 88RRC, had the same effect. Better gas milage, less groovy. It was up there so long I forgot what driving without it was like.

Seriously, with the rack, I had to fuel up at Gorman (~45 mi closer to SD than Bakersfield) on my way North, because I was nearing quarter-tank.

guess what.... no!

i'm going to get the new seals and redo them myself. the body shop (that our $tealer$hip uses) already did rust-related job on my disco back in 98, and it didn't quite hold up.
Already got a can of paint and can of clearcoat.

Krylon is great indeed.

but I stopped at a paint store and ordered a can of Land Rover Alpine White. it may have been five times more expensive than Krylon, but about this much cheaper than the same amount from
