I noticed that my oil light stays on longer when I start the car up from cold in the morning. It seems to stay on for about 5 seconds. I am using Mobil 1 20/50 and its been kind of cold around here (Maryland). Should I switch to Mobil 1 10/30? I have about 140k miles on the monster. Anyone else use Mobil 1 10/30? |

Bill, i put 5W50 into the Disco (127kmi) before heading up to the mountains, and noticed much faster starts, no valve tap upon start-up, and oil light extinguishes even before the engine starts. the cost of a 5-qt can of Castrol synthetic 5W50 was $17 at KMart (which I discovered after paying about $25 for the same at NAPA). peter |

Your oil light should go out in under one second. What year is your disco? The only exception is if you have a non-B 3.9 Ron |

If it happen only on initial startup of the day?? Check your filter.. The anti-drain valve might be stuck or not working causing oil in the block to drain back into the pan.. change the oil filter and see if it makes a difference. I recommend using either the OEM or a good aftermarket filter i.e. Wix, who make it for many OEMs.. Check out this website on oil filters.. http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/ |

My disco is a 95. I use the long crosland filters, which i thought were supposed to be good. from what i've been reading here lately, 5 or 6 seconds might not be so bad (20's at night). |
