yep, just JB weld that bitch because chances are its just going to crack again no matter how you fix it.

Mine isn't that big but I'm tired of messing with it so its staying like it is. Like John said it gives you the poor man's TDI :)

Mine's not quite to that point yet but it is already sounding really nice;) Looks like manifolds run about $150 a side. I'm sure we'll need gaskets, bolts, etc. Probably not a fun job to do by yourself. Let me know how it goes and if you tackle this yourself or let someone else do it. That way I'll know how much KY to purchase to lube myself up real nice. Later.. RS

Though mine were not broken (Matt's are beyond broke!) on my 88RRC, I did take them out when I did my valve job. Easy to take out yourself, but very heavy. On mine, some of the bolts were so loose you could take them out by hand. I did break stud on the bottom of the RH manifold. Bitch to get out.

Though I am not 100% sure, I have heard Hedman makes high flow headers that will fit Rovers. Give Summit Racing a call, you may be surprised.

Uhh yeah, I didn't really pay much attention to that pic the first time, just jumped on John's JB weld train. That thing is busted up pretty good isn't it?? Did you get it wet??

I have a crack just like that. I tried jb quick but the heat burned it to powder. I think I will try jb regular and see if it hold this time. If not...it will stay the way it is for awhile. Sounds cool anyway.

Kyle, a friend of mine(who is a welder) suggested I think what you said. Pull them, drill the ends of the cracks, and weld them up. In your opinion is that as good as replacing? Hell, I'll pull them out tomorrow and have them welded up if it's that easy. Peace.. and thanks for any advice you may give.. Robert S

Yeah , alot of things have been welded like that over the years .

I ussually drill the ends and use a cut off tool to make that crack into a trough. Then fill the trough with weld and forget about it...

Being as good or not I dont think is the issue. I like to think that there is still life left in em.. What if you buy a new one and crack him too ?? That would suck... If you can get it done fast and cheaply , weld em up!!

Welding would cost me next to nothing. Sounds like a plan to me. Thanks for the tip. Hope you had a great holiday and I'll be talking with you later. If you ever get down toward TN you have a place to crash.. Peace.. RS

If the guy hasnt done it before tell him to do it slowly and not go to town on em.. That kinda brings the heat up on em slowly (They can be warmed with a torch as well) so things dont get freaky..

I'm by far not a mechanic, so I called my father tonight whom had a manifold replaced on his F350 a few years back. He said that his bolts were rusted like crazy, and that 2 snapped in trying to remove them. Inner fender had to be removed and bolts drilled out, tapped, etc... I'm worried that might happen with my rig as it spent many years in Boston, MA before making down south to me. It's kind of a rust bucket. I also have a friend at Midas, not so much the smart type but can help a brother in need. I'm thinking have them remove them, have my friend weld them, and then have them put it back together. I'm just glad mine aren't at the point of the fella above.. Peace.. Roberto

Robert, my 88RRC was from PA, not near as bad as MA, but since the heads are aluminum you shouldn't have too much rust. I was very surprised at how easy they came off the head. Where they connected to the cat was another issue. Came off easy, but as I said I sheared a stud, bummer.

Come on guys, I was kidding about the JB Weld, Matt's headers are split and need serious attention.

Mine was cracked in the exact same place. I replaced both sides with new ones because they both eventually cracked and broke all the way through. No problems since. The job was not difficult either, about an hour per side. By the way, this is an actual legitimate post as opposed to some others above.

This is not a legitimate posting either, but what the heck does it matter Bill?

Thanks for your thoughts on this matter Kyle, I think I am going to try that on mine before it gets worse.

Yup.. bound to happen sooner or later. I've replaced both of mine at different intervals. Its a pretty easy job. Granted all the bolts come out as planned. Don't forget gaskets.

Let me know how it goes Matt. How many miles on your Disco? I'm at 133k this week, and it has seen it's share of splashing around if you look at my photo gallery here on DWEB you'll see at least one pic of me being ignorant, well, all of them I'm being ignorant, but at least one of the pics involves water.. Later.. Rob
