My Disco doesn't leak oil. But it does leak air. I now have three tires that need air on a regular basis. No signs of punctures. Its gotten worse now that we've had some cold nights down here. Anyone had similar problems? Oh yeah I have a 2001 series II, stock rims, stock tires and 23k in both.

Thanks
Tom

Do you take your disco off road? What kind of terrain? And do you have the 18" or 16" rims?

The two things I would check for is a crack in the wheel and sand or small rocks stuck in the bead. Either way you can find the leak by taking the wheel off and laying it sideways. Start with the possible leak in the bead by putting water on the bead of the tire. Add a little dish soap to the water if you like and look for bubbles. Second step is to do the same with a vat of water and set the wheel in the vat standing up and rotate the wheel until we find the leak.

remember that tire pressure decreases with cold weather.

do you have caps on you valve stems? if not there could be debris in there letting some air out, or the valves may be bad.

I'm runnin on 16s. Not alot of wheeling. Down here its mud little or no rocks. I had a Honda years back with Al rims and after over 100k hard miles I had similar problems and had been told it was the Al rims they dont have the durablity of steel and thats why the cronic slow leaks

Yes I have caps on all 4 and yes I'm aware of pressure decreasing in the cold...

Got one chronic leaker on mine. Valve stem has been replaced twice, still leaks around the rim. It takes about a week to go from 38 to 15 or so. Gonna stick some NATO steelies on it, so that was a good excuse to my wife:) Later...RS

most likely the rims if it's not the valve stems. one of mine had a slow leak that wouldn't even show with the soapy water trick. i found a slight bend on the back side and caaaaaaaaaaaaaaarefully tapped it out. no leak now. just put aside a few hundred bucks and get ready to order a new one if you crack yours. :)
fwiw, i was told by one tire shop that michelin's bead doesn't seal as well as other brands. don't know if that's crap or not.

Check the seal inside the valve stem cap. I have seen many of these cause slow leaks that go undetected. Remove the cap and look inside for a small rubber seal. I normaly just remove and throw away.
