Hello,
I am under the impression that I have a rare and original Hunter Special Edition 1989 cypress green, with the great divide expedition emblem on the tail hitch, it also has Overfinch and sunroof, leather seats, walnut wood trim. I think I have a very unique Rover. From original documentation that I received with the car it says that only 120 of my cars were produced. I am the second owner and everything is still original except for the stereo. I would like to find out more information and its value, if you have any information or can help me please e-mail me at [email protected]
Thank you,
Jessica Morford

Yes indeed you do have a rare Land Rover. Try rangerovers.net for more detailed info. I am in the process of buying a 1991 RR Hunter the one I am looking at has no abs, leather or sunroof it is kind of a bare bones model. But it is all original and was well cared for. The price is 5000 do you think the price is right ?

$5000 for a 91 in good shape is a good deal, Hunter edition or not. Think of the lack of ABS and sunroof as a plus...no need for expensive replacement/repair in the future!

Jessica,
I also have 89 Hunter with the badge on the back. However mine has cloth seats, which I think were standard, the leather being optional maybe with the "Overfinch" package. Mine included a original brouchure and such showing people actually taking these trucks to go hunting (gasp!! :-) One of the coolest option I ever saw was in that add: they actually had a gun rack that attached to the dog guard in the rear.

I think it's value would be relative to who wanted to buy it. I didn't know anything about this model nor really did the guy that sold it to me. I was just looking for RR in the right price range. Since they are only 13 years old, I wouldn't place as much "special edition" value as the NAS Defender 110s. But as the years go on, who knows?

Keep it up in good shape.

All 89 rovers came with sunroofs. I crack up when I see peple advertise them and power seats as "options" or loaded when selling them. I think it was 90 or 91 when they became an option.

The badge on mine is on the left side of the tailgate. Circle with a rover and mountains, I think. As Jessica said, it says "The Great Divide Expedition" not to be confused with the later Great Divide Edition.

These things have any kind of numbering scheme like the D110s? Been a while since I've visited rtangerover.net, maybe I'll pop on over.

No mention of the Hunter in 89 but it does list the 90/91 Great Divide.

Check the last line. Ok, so now we know where 2 of them are, where are the other 118?

And still more info why a 89 Hunter is better than a 91 Hunter (of which 405 were made)

Are you sure yours isnt' Eastnor Green Rob? :) If you don't have the little horsey jumping over the H, then I guess it ain't. When I get home I'm going to try to find some other distinguishing factor.

Rob, I've actually seen a good number of green RRs. Check in front of the radiator, mine has a tag listing the coloring but I can't remember what it says, but it's the oringal tag.

No, I believe you, just bad timing with the post. :). I read one of the pages that said the County and the Hunter were the only ones in 89 with the diming mirror, so you may just have a Hunter under there.

Yeah, here it is. Scroll down to the 1989 models and they list the Hunter and COuntry add-ons separate.

Rob, don't you have leather seats in that '88? Throw them in!

You took out the center consol in that '88, right?

the center consol was junky in the 88 and the leather seats are grey! it would look almost as ghetto as that coat hanger you tied to the front of that adventure rack.

it is i that contains asbestos!

Yeah, about that lightbar (since you brought it up :) ), it worked great this weekend, keeping the antenna and lights safe and sound the whole time. And managed not to get ripped off. This is where you tell me Rob "It will eventually".

Pics can be found at http://www.pazoodle.com/2-1-03/ . And just to keep it on topic somewhat, there are pictures in there of 2 Rangies tagging right along with the Discos.

Dammit-I thought I was special with my '89 County in "Cairngorm (AKA metallic UPS-truck) Brown"!

Now I find out you guys have "rare" '89 Hunter editions-you're just a bunch of elitist snobs aren't you? :)

It turns out the Hunters were for REAL MEN, and the Countrys were for pansy who drove on roads. :)

Rob, just remember to take your tie off before working on the vehicle - per the warning label.

Well then I guess I'm glad I have a COUNTY and not a COUNTRY! :)

The '89 Range Rover COUNTY came with its own set of cinder blocks and no hood. Plus the headliner came pre-sagged and a dozen cats were let loose to rip everything up. I've seen one or two of them around when I get out of the city.

I found this in the packet of stuff I got with my Rangie. The other side just had the Hunter logo.

FROM WHAT I GATHER HUNTER WERE ONLY MADE IN 90/91 AND DID NOT HAVE LEATHER, ABS,SWAY BARS OR SUNROOF THEY ALSO HAD A STICKER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE LOWER TAILGATE WHICH IS A HORSE JUMPING OVER THE H IN HUNTER. DO A GOOGLE SEARCH ON RANGE ROVER HUNTER.

I STAND CORRECTED .THEY DID MAKE A HUNTER IN 89. BUT IT IS NOT THE SAME AS THE 90/91 EDITION. THE 89 MODEL WAS MORE TOP OF THE LINE AND THE 90/91 MODEL WAS A BASE MODEL. THIS LINK WILL ANSWER ALL QUESTIONS. I HAVE A 91 HUNTER.

The first Rover I ever rode in was a Hunter Edition RR. THey sales guy this was before the Centre and all that stuff, at any rate he was cool guy he took us off road in it we went thru some deep water and up a pretty steep hill. I imagine it was about 92 or 93. I think it came with a picnic basket and some other interesting stuff. Needless to say Rover has gotten away from the idea of people taking thier trucks out into the country and using em. However as for the hunter I havent seen one in a good while.
