When I started the disco yesterday, I smelled antifeeze but did not notice any puddle in the parking lot. After the 60 mile drive home, I check the coolant level, which was about a 1/2" below the seam in the resivior. I check all the hoses and some of the clamps needed to be tightened. There is no coolent in the oil at all. Question is would you smell coolant if there is a blown head gasket even though there is no sign of coolant in the oil? It could be a leaky hose but thought I would ask. Thanks |

You didn't say what year or miles. If you are smelling coolant in the cab, you might have a bad heater core. Look to see if you have coolant or dampness under your floor mats. This happened in my 88RRC. Bitch to replace. |

If it's a D2, then you might need a new radiator, a bunch of those had bad bottom hose connector ports (whatever it's called). Or you could also have leak in the intake manifold gasket. |

D2's also have another common leak. Take a look just under the MAF and see if you spot any fluid residue. |

I topped off the resivior. I checked hte floor mats. They were all wet from the recent snow storm. I am going to check the spot by the MAF and get a compresion test done. |
