I did a little investigating in the achieves and the info is pointing to the Vehicle speed sensor (VSS). Does this sound right?

The truck has a consistent hesitation wile on the gas. What I mean by consistent is that when it does hesitate the hesitation is like a vibration. It feels different than a miss fire due to a plug wire arch.

I hope I clearly stated the symptom of the hesitation.

Does it sound like the VSS?

Will I get a fault code that would point to the VSS?

Any Ideas out there?

Thanks Doug

The VSS feels like a governor is on your truck. You can give it gas but no power while at highway speed. Also intermittent sputtering.

Thank for the reply Charles.

I think we are talking about the same condition.
Lets say we are cruising at 50 mph and you role on the throttle and the truck will not accelerate and the feed back through the seat of your pants is a sputtering?
I got that. However I can be traveling at slower speed and get the same conditions. It pretty much occurs when i push the gas peddle over 1/3.

Sounds exactly like my 97 did on road trips.
Bought my VSS from Discount rovers and please to say no more problems. I was told the longer you wait the worst it gets. 15 minutes to change
and NO BLOOD.

Very easy change out. One bolt. Call Nathan at Discount Rovers.

Well I now have a check engine light on and a stumbling idle. The trucks performance is deteriorating rapidly.

Look like I'll be under the truck in the cold soon. It was 13 F degrees last night and I really was not interested in spending too much time diagnosing the problem in the cold weather.

Thanks guys for the input and thanks Discoweb for the space.

Probably just misfires.
