Since Subarus are a popular off-topic subject around here, thought I'd mention that the new US-only 2.5L WRX STi was announced yesterday....

300hp@6000rpm and 300ft-lb@4000rpm.....

FWIW....

I absolutely love the WRX wagon. I looked around the Subaru site, but could not find anything about the wagon version of the WRX STi. Do you know if a wagon version is planned?

Very much most likely not...... already being thoroughly discussed on the STi forum at www.impreza.net.....

Looks like the WRX will still be available as a wagon, just no STi version....

well that's new. the STi was originally going to come over as a 2.0L and run about 270-280hp. i'll have to talk to my brother about this (he has an '01 Rex). i guess Mitsu scared Subi with the Evo 8 and they decided to give the STi more teeth.

Thanks Leslie!

I've been tossing around the idea of picking up a WRX wagon as a daily driver. It seems to be the right size and the reliability can't be beat.

the subies are nice - but i'd take a vw golf r32 anyday over a subie. you put fuzzy dice on the rear view and they cancel your warranty.... even if you install the factory upgrades they cancel your warranty !?!

if not a golf r32 (foor door please) i'd take a used audi s4, or s6. a q-ship is more my bag than a bling bling one.

though the one car that still brings fond memories was the day i actually got to ride in a sport quattro !! nothing says 'rallye' to me more than a turbo 5 cylinder being driven in anger... (with hannu, stig or michelle behind the wheel !)

It comes w/ a driver controlled center differential...... Now I can buy a car w/ a cdiff but not a Land Rover.... geesh. :)

i wasn't thinking about it before, but 300hp is the limit for WRC events. so much for toning down the car for the street. :) i'd love to have a WRX, if i could afford it. i looked at the wagons briefly before getting my Disco, but there was no way it was gonna have enough room for my dog, so i had to nix the idea.

One cool thing is, the stereo is optional, not standard.... :)

PS: current guess is MSRP will be ~$32-34k, but it'll probably sell over MSRP, FWIW....

I bought a outback wagon when they first came out and where hard to get. the dealer in wausau Wi told me that subaru had a policy not allowing dealers to sell over MSRP and that they would bump dealers down the list on new models that where hot(such as the outback was) if they found out they where over charging.

the dealer owes me a favour(he caught the biggest musky of his life in my boat) so If anyone was really looking for one I might have a inside track to an early delivery

300hp is about what subaru's need with all the gears they push...sounds like fun
