Hi All,

I have a couple of new keyles entry remotes for a 95 RR LWB. I was given two proceedures (they slightly vary) but neither results in my being able to program the remotes. Here are the proceedures and if anyone has another protocol I can try, I would appreciate it. Her they are:

1. Starting conditions: ignition off, doors unlocked, Open hood and depress hood switch.

2. CArry out instructions 3 to 9 within 8 seconds.

3. Switch ignition switch on (meaning to ignition switch position #2 but not actually starting car)

4. Switch ignition switch off (meaning ignition switch of or key quickly removed).

5. Lock doors

6. Unlock doors

7. Release hood switch

8. Switch ignition on (position number 2)

9. Switch ignition off. If alarm is correctly accessed, horn will sound and LED LIGHT will light. It is now possible to program two handsets of correct frequency to vehicle alarm ECU. This must be carried out within 2 minutes.

*** After step 9 (switching ignition off), nothing happens....I don't hear any horn or see and LED light coming on. I can't figure out where I am going wrong.

Here is the second instructions (which sem like they are not quite right.

1. Open hood and depress hood switch.

2. Turn ignition to on position (position #2)

3. Lock doors

4. Turn ignition to the "off" position.

5. Unlock doors

6. Turn ignition to the "on" position.

7. PRogram remote.

In this set of steps, it doesn't mention when to remease the hood switch button. but in any case, neither of the two proceedures abpove result in my hearing any horn or seeing the LED light come on in order to program the remotes.
I hope someone has some insight. Many thanks!

David

Oh how "stupid of me"! I was pressing the wrong button under the hood (there's one on the left side and one on the right). Now I used the correct "under the hood button", to program the remotes and it worked perfectly.

I am trying to get my new remote programmed too.
I have a 97 disco and I can't get the horn to sound and led to light either. I am following the directions in the manual- which match stuff on the web!
I only see 1 button under the hood on the steering wheel side (my left if I were sitting in the front seat.)

Help...

Hi Rick,

I'm not with my Disco at the moment, but on the RR, there is a second (slightly different shaped) button on just the opposite (passenger) side under the hood. I don't recall if the Disco has his second button. This is the correct button that needs to be pressed on the RR to program the keyless remote.
*Also I may be wrong but I thought on a Disco, one also needs to punch in some type of code to program the remotes, but I may be wrong about this. First see if there is that second button under the Disco hood. Hope this helps.
