I have a 1999 Discovery Series 1 and i am trying to find out what lift kit is needed to fit 285/75/16 (33's). My discovery is just my everyday truck. I am in the process of getting a D90 for my offroad truck. So i just want my discovery to look good. I hate to do everything and spend all the money. So i am just trying to get by. do i need new radius arms, trailing arms, etc. I have bought this discovery already with 3" inch spacers and 32 inch trxus swampers. My driveshafts dont make any noise either. And i know 3 inch spacers sound weird, i havent heard of anyone with them either. But that is what i have but i just want an inch bigger tire without trimming A BIT! So if someone can help me i would appreciate it. I have actually called John at rovertym and he said 3 inch springs and 1 inch spacers. I agree with that but i dont want to have to get new radius arms and trailing arms and driveshafts. It just seems wierd that to get a one inch bigger tire i need to all of that done. Even with my truck not having any problems with 32 inch tires and 3 inch lift. But if someone could let me know what they think. The main reason i am doing this is because i hate to spend alot of money on my disco when i want to spend it on the D-90. Thanx Ben Pruitt |

i think they sell a pump that will for a short time give you the added inch bigger you so desire try penthouse . . . . . . . . . . . . . . my real advise ...save your money for the D90 33's and 4" of lift will suck on the street |

255/85/16 and 285/75/16 are about the same height but the 285's are just wider. i have the TruXus 255/85/16 and they are around 32.5" i fit these with RTE 3" springs w/o any problems. |

No matter what, you will have to trim, install some much bigger bump stops, or seriously increase your coil bind to fit those big meats. Thanks, Mike B. |

Build your D-90 first and then see how important a street/show Disco is to you. Since the drivetrains are the same except for wheelbase, you will learn on the D-90 what is needed to lift the trucks; thus saving time and money. |

It's an easier learning path to do that to a D90. Putting 285 on a stock D90 is just a matter of popping them on. You will have a tiny bit of rubbing on the rubber flares. We put an OME lift on ours and its been great. Bam.. that was it, done. However, (from experimenting on my Disco) even with my 3" lift and everything that goes along that you need for the lift, when I mounted 285's (BFG MTs) had all kinds of rubbing on the slider fronts just turning corners on the street. I never got it to a trail to see what would have happened. So there are big differences between what you need to set each one up. Chris von C. |
